Valerie Roth, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Valerie! My name is Valerie Roth, LMFT. I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from California State University, Fullerton, and my Bachelor’s from the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine. My goal is to understand your history, how it impacts you, and help you make choices and changes to improve your quality of life. It is an honor to be present with someone in their self-discovery and desire for meaning in life. I can’t give you the answers, but I can guide you as you determine what feels right for you. **My approach** Because we are each unique, I don’t apply cookie-cutter models. I believe in the inherent value of the individual, which guides how I determine treatment methods. I most often use cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and humanistic approaches. I use between-session assignments when appropriate. **My focus** Anxiety, work stress, depression, and life transitions are key focus areas. I help you feel better, stronger, and more confident in dealing with issues causing distress in your life and relationships. My experience includes treating anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship issues. Due to my background, I also specialize in helping people navigate career and workplace challenges. **My communication style** My passion is helping others grow while creating a safe space for authenticity. I create a supportive environment and challenge clients when they may be missing key issues to explore. Confidentiality and emotional safety are critical so you can get the most from treatment. Providing relevant information and education is also part of how I assist others. **My journey to mental healthcare** Growing up, I saw many people raised in situations where they were invalidated and taught their feelings were irrelevant. I wanted to help people work through the damage that occurs when acceptance and validation are missing.
