Getting to know Valerie Schiro
Hey there! I'm Valerie. I'm looking forward to the possibility of working with you.
I believe therapy should be a space where you can be honest, curious, and completely yourself, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, OCD, intrusive thoughts, perfectionism, relationship concerns, self-esteem, life transitions, depression, and other challenges that can make life feel overwhelming.
I have a particular interest in OCD and anxiety and supporting people whose minds are constantly asking “What if?” or searching for the perfect answer. It can be exhausting. I enjoy helping clients understand these patterns, get curious about what their minds are doing, and develop new ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions.
One of my favorite parts of being a therapist is moment when clicks and you see yourself or a familiar pattern in a completely new way. The "aha!" moment. I genuinely think those moments are fun, and I love helping clients discover them for themselves. Rather than simply telling you what I think is happening, I want to support you in connecting the dots and develop insights that feel meaningful to you.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and reaching out for support is a meaningful step. I’m here to help you better understand yourself, navigate what feels difficult, and create meaningful change.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I earned my MSW from Arizona State University and my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida. My approach is collaborative, genuine, and individualized. I believe therapy can be both supportive and productive, with room for practical tools, meaningful conversations, humor, and curiosity along the way.
