The provider is supervised by "Allison Hunter". Clients often share that working with me feels grounding and genuine, a space where they can speak openly without worrying about being judged or misunderstood. I bring warmth, steady presence, and honest conversation into the therapy room, creating space for both difficult emotions and the possibility of meaningful change. I work with women and children ages 10 and up, supporting clients navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and family or relational challenges. Much of my work involves helping clients understand how past experiences shape present patterns, strengthen their sense of self, and move toward healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. As a bilingual therapist offering services in English and Spanish, I am committed to providing culturally responsive and inclusive care. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, grounded in respect for each client’s values and lived experience. For those who desire it, I am open to integrating faith into the therapeutic process in a thoughtful and client-led way. I have a particular interest in women’s mental health, including perinatal and postpartum adjustment, burnout, and identity development. Whether you are carrying long-standing emotional pain or simply trying to find steadier footing in your life, I strive to meet you with empathy, clarity, and support as you reconnect with your strengths.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is meant to feel steady, supportive, and genuine. You do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say when you start. We’ll take time to understand what you are carrying and what you hope to get out of therapy, moving at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful. I value honesty and openness, and I aim to create a space where you can show up as yourself without fear of judgment or pressure. I bring warmth, calm presence, and a grounded sense of connection into sessions. While we often talk about heavy or vulnerable topics, there is also room for lightness, curiosity, and moments of ease along the way. Some sessions may feel reflective and grounding, while others may focus more on practical tools or working through deeper emotions, depending on what you need that day. You can expect me to be attentive, thoughtful, and collaborative. I listen closely, ask questions that support clarity, and work alongside you as you build insight, confidence, and healthier ways of coping. My goal is for therapy to feel like a partnership where you feel understood, supported, and empowered as you move forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work usually begins with slowing things down and getting a clear sense of what brought you to therapy. Early sessions focus on building comfort, trust, and understanding what you are hoping to change or better understand. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We move at a pace that feels respectful and supportive. As therapy continues, we begin to notice patterns in thoughts, emotions, relationships, and coping strategies. Together, we explore what has shaped these patterns and what you want to strengthen or shift. Sessions may include reflection, skill building, and space to process emotions, depending on what feels most helpful for you in the moment. Throughout the process, I take a collaborative and flexible approach. Some sessions are more structured and goal focused, while others are quieter and more reflective. Therapy is shaped by your needs, values, and readiness, with the goal of helping you feel more grounded, confident, and connected over time.

Novus Psychotherapy & Counseling Center operates primarily as an out-of-network and self-pay practice. Payment is due at the time of service. We accept major credit and debit cards and use a secure, HIPAA-compliant system for all billing and documentation. While we do not bill most insurance plans directly, we are happy to provide a superbill upon request that clients may submit to their insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on their individual out-of-network benefits. Coverage and reimbursement amounts are determined by your insurance provider, and we encourage clients to contact their insurer directly to understand their benefits.
