Vanessa Degollado, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
I am a licensed professional counselor who is passionate about helping others through the most difficult times of their lives. I enjoy supporting people as they manage anxiety, depression, anger, or the long-lasting effects of trauma. When I'm not in session with clients, you can find me in my garden, reading a book, or fishing. My approach varies depending on my clients’ needs. I operate from a client-centered approach with cognitive behavioral techniques. This allows us to work together as a team to really dive into what the issue is and why it is happening. Together, we will learn and implement skills and strategies to help you feel more like your best self. I have found this approach to be the most effective in helping my clients gain a solid foothold during the toughest times. I typically work with clients who find themselves impacted in their day-to-day lives by declining mental health or those struggling to manage the long-term effects of trauma. These challenges can manifest as depression, anxiety, anger, and more. I’ve never had a client I didn’t enjoy working with. The tone of your healing space is vital to me. I like to keep a safe and trusting environment with my clients while also being personable. This means providing a space that is free of judgment. My journey to becoming a therapist began at a very young age. Having been impacted by my own trauma, I sought to become what I felt others needed. I earned a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston, University Park, and have been providing mental health services to those in need for several years. Goal setting between me and a client can look different depending on the person. Some people come in already knowing what they want to work on, and others come in just knowing they need help. We will work together to identify goals, both long-term and short-term, to provide you the relief you need.
