Getting to know Vanessa Lambrecht

**ATTENTION: We accept BCBS, Aetna, and United Healthcare PPO plans only.** **Please expect an email from Elevate Counseling with the online paperwork that must be completed prior to your appointment. Please complete it within 48 hours of receiving it.** I started studying Psychology in high school and continued that passion into my undergrad work. I then followed a calling into the art world, where I completed a bachelor’s degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After becoming a mother, I saw a need for support in my community. I realized I had a thirst to learn and a fearless heart for creating connections. With that knowledge, I returned to school for my master's degree, earning an MS in clinical psychology from Benedictine University. It was one of the best and most satisfying decisions I made for myself. Inspired by my adventures in the neurodiverse community, I am now working towards earning my ADHD Clinical Services Provider Certification (ADHD-CCSP). On my days out of the office, you’ll find me discussing fandoms with my husband, doing crafts and science experiments with my kids, or looking for fun cultural adventures in and outside Chicago.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In this collaborative adventure, you will determine the level of impact we can make together. If you are ready to aim for the moon, so am I! My commitment to you is unwavering support, offering a place to feel seen while being given the gentle nudge required for growth. Be prepared to engage in self-exploration and the discomfort of building confidence. In addition to the work I do helping clients with a wide variety of mental health concerns, I am also a safe-space ally and neurodiversity-affirming therapist. What does that mean? It means that when you step into my office or sign in to our virtual session, you will be greeted with acceptance and understanding no matter how you identify or whatever neurotype you might be. A neurodiversity-affirming therapist approaches therapeutic work, acknowledging that conditions like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and others are not to be cured but embraced! Do you have to have a neurodiverse diagnosis to benefit from therapy with me? In short, no, you do not. Our neurodiverse community includes caregivers, siblings, spouses, business partners, and so on! We all have unique stories that need to be heard. I recognize you as the true expert on your life and experiences. Together, we will leverage your gifts and positive qualities and process what might feel like weaknesses.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Taking the first step to enter therapy can be the hardest part. There are so many unknowns. Since you are reading this, congratulations, you are halfway through the first step. Now, let's complete it together. I'm here to be your ally, providing a safe and accepting space to embrace self-discovery, hash out complicated feelings, and heal. Let's embark on this path together, with me as your guide, gently nudging you to explore the depths of your potential. As your therapist, I support you wholeheartedly, keeping you on track while celebrating your strengths. In our sessions, you have the choice to learn how to unmask, validate your brilliance, and leave with the assurance that you're capable of overcoming challenges. Remember, you have the strength to tackle even the most challenging situations, and I'm here to help you realize that.
