“I have many great things to share about Dr. Laurent! She is very kind and respectful during our conversations, and when it comes to challenging topics, she's super patient and supportive so that you can work through things at your own pace without feeling like someone is "telling you" what to do or think. I also appreciate her intercultural communication skills because I feel like I can be my authentic self (which is so important for effective therapy!) Speaking with Dr. Laurent has helped me develop skills and strategies to manage things that I often struggle with---stress, perfectionism, anxiety, physical health, and relationship challenges. I've been able to use what we've discussed in a variety of contexts, and it's helped me engage with my own thoughts and feelings in a healthier way. With her guidance, I've also gotten better at recognizing how holistic well-being is and why caring for your body is the same as caring for your mind. I would definitely recommend Dr. Laurent as a therapist to others!”

Getting to know Dr. Vanessa Laurent

I am a licensed psychologist with a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University, a Master’s in Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University, and a Bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University. I am passionate about helping people live the life they want. I will help you gain self-awareness and understanding to better manage and control your emotions, and by extension, your life. I have provided therapeutic services for over 10 years. I employ a multimodal approach to therapy but would primarily characterize myself as a cognitive behavioral therapist, with specific training in family intervention, behavioral modification, and trauma-informed care. I have also received training in a variety of other treatment modalities and believe in providing high-quality, evidence-based treatment. I strongly believe that our well-being is affected by biological, psychological, and social factors. I utilize a biopsychosocial approach that highlights the interdependent nature of the body, mind, and social factors and how they might contribute to the development or continuation of our problems. Whether you are dealing with depression, family issues, or anxiety, I can support you in living the life you want. Starting therapy can be a difficult and courageous decision—you have taken the first step just by being here. I look forward to working with you!

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Had a nice first session, then never showed up for the second we scheduled. Attempted to contact her and still haven't heard back after three weeks

Just had my first visit. She was friendly, and I felt like she was actually listening. She asked great questions in this session to really get to know me, and she shared enough about herself that I think I know a little about her too
