I am a Licensed Professional Counselor living in Texas. I am soft-spoken. Before becoming a counselor, I was told it was easy for me to talk for too long, and that is a major reason I chose counseling as a career. My approach I choose Reality Therapy. I ask what the desired goals are and assist in achieving those goals. I also find Cognitive/Behavioral techniques useful. My focus Often, reducing depression, anxiety, and stress are common goals I have helped clients attain. I have also addressed grief processing and improving family communication skills. My communication style Again, I am soft-spoken and an attentive listener. I am accepting and non-judgmental. My journey to therapy I chose counseling as a career due to my interest in assisting others struggling with life. Since I have been easily accepted to share, at times, acquaintances’ experiences and provide support, counseling was a positive fit for me. I have asked clients which they prefer—counselor or therapist—and the majority chose counselor, which is fine with me. I earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Texas A&M University-Commerce and a Bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University. My experience includes working in a domestic violence residence, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and private practice, with an emphasis on grief processing, depression, family dynamics, anxiety, and stress reduction. My goals for you Successful care is achieved when clients know their goals are attained and their needs are met. As a counselor, I assist my clients in becoming aware of their progress. My first session with you An initial session with me begins with a basic introduction, followed by me asking what the client’s concerns are.
