My name is Velma Penermon Stevens. I am a licensed clinical social worker, originally from Miami, Florida. I am a proud graduate of the magnificent Florida A&M University and Florida State University where I received both my professional degrees in social work, a bachelor's and a master's degree. I have over 26 years of experience as a social worker. I have also been in pastoral care for the past eight years. Most of my work experience has been in the non-profit sector, where I saw firsthand the need for specialized counseling and therapy services. I know how living situations, health status, and even zip codes can impact a person’s mental health. I would like to help with breaking barriers, breaking negative cycles, and breaking through the difficult times that challenge a person’s sense of wellness. My entire professional career has been dedicated to empowering those who have felt disenfranchised and unheard while helping them to find their voice. I offer a wide variety of compassionate and judgment-free therapeutic approaches to therapy. I have experience with depression, substance use/abuse, anxiety, grief & loss, domestic violence, caregiver support, and marriage/family/relationship issues. My treatment modalities entail an individual treatment plan just for you.
