Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Victoria! I am Victoria Clark, LCSW, and I hold a Master's in Social Work from Portland State University. I have been practicing in mental health for nearly fifteen years. My approach to therapy is based on building relationships founded on mutual trust, understanding, and acceptance. My approach When beginning a relationship with an individual, I prefer to start from the beginning-spending time getting to know the person before me and building from that point. My primary approach is psychodynamic. I believe a person is the combination of all their experiences; each experience impacts the person as a whole. My focus My experience includes working with all ages. I enjoy supporting individuals from youth to mature adults. I am most comfortable working with anxiety, trauma, attachment, grief and loss, and couples. My communication style My goal is to create a safe space for individuals to engage in treatment. I am direct and warm with all I serve. When working with 7- to 17-year-olds, I work only in person. The environment may change depending on the needs of the person I am serving. When working with adults, I work mostly virtually or by audio, providing some in-person appointments depending on circumstances. My journey to mental healthcare About forty years ago, I began working in human services. My heart and focus have always been on being part of the journey others experience in life. I began working with those who wanted change. Over the years, I have worked with individuals from various walks of life, providing services based on needs and circumstances. In all areas I worked, there has been a common need: therapeutic services, which is where I drew direction from. The first 36 years of my life were busy, often focusing on matters other than my ultimate goal-serving in a therapeutic capacity. It has taken fourteen years of "on again and off again" work to achieve my goal.
