I’m Victoria Nicholson, MS, LCAT, ATR-BC, a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board-Certified Art Therapist. I create a warm, non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to be fully yourself—especially if you’ve been holding a lot in or struggling to put your feelings into words. I work with teens, young adults, and individuals navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, and identity exploration. This work is especially meaningful for Black women, caregivers, and those balancing cultural expectations, relationships, and personal growth. Sometimes it’s hard to explain what you’re feeling—or even understand it yourself, or support deeper work past words. That’s where creative arts therapy can help. You don’t need to be “good at art.” I use creative expression as a tool to help you process emotions, release stress held in the body, and gain insight in ways that don’t rely on words alone. My approach is holistic, grounded, and collaborative. I integrate mindfulness, CBT, and coaching-style support to help you not only reflect, but take meaningful steps forward. I’m warm and supportive, but also direct and honest—so you can expect both emotional safety and real growth. As an Afro-Caribbean Black woman, I bring a culturally responsive and affirming lens to my work. I’m mindful of how identity, culture, faith, and family shape your experience, and I strive to create a space where you feel seen, respected, and understood. Whether you’re navigating a personal healing journey, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you—building insight, coping skills, and clarity along the way. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family, and exploring creative outlets, and I bring that same sense of openness and expression into the work I do with my clients.

Whether you’re navigating a personal healing journey, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you—building insight, coping skills, and clarity along the way. What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and actively supported. I’m engaged and collaborative in sessions—I’ll ask thoughtful questions, offer feedback, and help you make connections between emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. We’ll move at a pace that feels safe, balancing immediate concerns (such as stress, sleep, cravings, or overwhelm) with longer-term healing and growth. I often blend talk therapy with optional creative approaches, such as drawing, collage, imagery, journaling, even quilting, or simple grounding exercises. Creative work is always an invitation, never a requirement. Healing here is holistic. Many clients find these tools helpful for emotional regulation, self-compassion, and accessing feelings when words feel hard to find or just to heal their past to propel their future. My style is goal-oriented but human. We’ll track progress, problem-solve setbacks together, and focus on practical skills you can use outside of session. If you’re feeling stuck, burned out, or unsure where to begin, we’ll start there—together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll begin with an initial session focused on understanding what brings you in, including your current concerns, stressors, relevant history, strengths, and supports. We’ll talk about what you’d like to change and what’s feeling most urgent right now. Together, we’ll identify goals and create a plan tailored to you. This may include coping skills, emotional regulation tools, communication strategies, and deeper processing work when appropriate. In ongoing sessions, we’ll check in on what’s been coming up, notice patterns over time, and work toward your goals using approaches such as CBT, mindfulness-based strategies, and motivational interviewing. Sessions are collaborative and flexible, and we adjust focus as your needs evolve. If you’re open to it, we may also incorporate holistic approaches of support catered to you which may include art-based, therapeutic, or creative tools to support insight, reduce anxiety, process emotions safely, and strengthen coping skills. Creative work is always optional and used thoughtfully. I place a strong emphasis on practical takeaways. You can expect grounding techniques, between-session practices, and tools you can use in real-life situations. We’ll regularly review progress and make adjustments so the work continues to feel supportive, relevant, and effective. Welcome home to yourself.
