Victoria Lavick-Scudder, LCPC

Psychotherapist
IL
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) working via telehealth for the state of Illinois. I work with teens and adults and specialize in supporting individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, addictive behaviors, codependency, depression, anxiety, and navigating general life transitions. My main goal is to help you feel safe, supported, and encouraged on your new journey. I earned my Master's in Community Counseling from Eastern Illinois University, which laid the foundation for my client-centered approach. Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you've never sought it before. I have a laid-back style and want you to feel comfortable confiding in me in a judgment-free environment. I work collaboratively with you to determine what you'd like to gain from therapy and truly meet you where you are. I primarily use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to identify and reframe unhealthy thought patterns, and I also incorporate mindfulness and solution-focused approaches to help you reach your goals. I enjoy working with clients from diverse backgrounds and am especially passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA+ community-whether discussing relationships, transitioning, or assisting in finding holistic care. I often work with high school and college students facing life transitions, which often present as depression or anxiety. Additionally, I have extensive experience in addiction recovery, addressing both substance use and behavioral addictions, and understanding how these issues intertwine with family dynamics. My communication style is friendly, calm, and accepting. I want you to feel secure sharing whatever is on your mind, and I pride myself on being actively engaged with my clients during sessions. My journey to mental healthcare began in high school, where I was a loyal friend and trusted ear for others. I found joy in helping those who were struggling, a passion that continued through my college studies and into my professional career.
