“I originally found Victoria through Zocdoc several years ago - after taking a break from therapy, I returned and I knew I wanted to resume my sessions through her. Victoria is thoroughly engaged during our sessions, remembers major (and minor!) details of previous sessions, and seems truly invested in my wellbeing. With what I need, I wouldn’t consider seeing anyone else - she is phenomenal.”

Getting to know Victoria McBride

Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a specialty and passion for Mental Health. Life is unpredictable. I value the importance of recognizing that life is not perfect, but if we can learn how to deal with those imperfections as they come, we can live life to our fullest abilities. I work best with young adults and adults struggling with relationships, life transitions, goal setting, depression, and anxiety. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients-fostering accountability to achieve goals, process emotional distress, change unhealthy behaviors, reframe distorted thought patterns, and explore healthy coping mechanisms. I use evidence-based practices such as Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help create effective and long-lasting change. I earned my Master's in Social Work from the University of Illinois, Chicago. My diverse experience has helped shape the clinician I am today. I have 9+ years of experience working in a variety of settings, beginning my career as an individual adult therapist for a not-for-profit agency, providing therapy to individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, stress management, and mood disorders. Additionally, I have 3 years' experience working in a hospital setting on an acute adult psychiatric crisis unit, where I supported individuals in crisis. As a current individual therapist in private practice, I work well with clients who are looking to be challenged and held accountable. I offer support and guidance as my clients navigate their own life pathways and decision-making. It is not easy to take that first step to seek therapy, but willingness is a great place to start! It is never too late to begin improving your overall quality of life, and I am here to help and support you in that process.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I prioritize building a comfortable environment right away with my client's. It is very important to me that my client's feel I am the best fit for them. Without that confidence and comfortability in your therapist, you will not improve to the best of your ability. We will work on building rapport with one another before we begin to dig deeper and start working on treatment goals. I often express to client's that I will "meet you where you are at." This means we will focus on goal setting and tools to use, while also spending time during session discussing and processing current life stressors as they arise. You are the driving force in your own therapy, and I am here to support, hold you accountable, and challenge behaviors and thoughts when appropriate. Therapy can truly be a wonderful asset in life, but you must be willing to make changes in your life and stay dedicated to working on yourself!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

1. Request an appointment 2. I will reach out to you directly via email to confirm the appointment. I will send you access to our portal (Simple Practice). Let me know if you prefer in-person or virtual appointments! 3. You will complete all the new client paperwork ASAP 4. I will submit your insurance to my billing company to obtain the benefit 5. We will have our first session (either in-person, or virtually) to discuss reasons for treatment, future goals, and scheduling preferences.
