Victoria Potente, LCSW

Victoria Potente, LCSW

Psychotherapist
PA
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience helping individuals and couples navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and the complex emotional terrain of relationships. My work is grounded in attachment theory and shaped by a genuine belief that healing happens in the context of connection — with others, and with yourself. I work with adults who are ready to understand their patterns, not just manage their symptoms. I also have a deep commitment to working with children of immigrants and first- and second-generation clients navigating identity, family loyalty, and the particular exhaustion of living between cultures. And for couples, I bring a structured, research-backed approach to helping partners move from stuck and distant to genuinely seen and understood. My practice, Amplify Mental Health, is fully telehealth — which means flexible, accessible care without the commute.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is collaborative, but I'm not a blank slate. I'm direct, I bring my clinical perspective into the room, and I'll gently push back when I think it serves you. You won't have to wonder what I'm thinking. I also meet people where they are. Some clients want deep excavation — tracing patterns back to their roots. Others want concrete tools they can use this week. Most need both at different times, and I'm comfortable moving between those modes. One thing I want new clients to know: the first few sessions are as much about fit as they are about history-taking. If we're a good match, you'll feel it. If we're not, I'll help you find someone who is.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start with a thorough intake — not just symptoms and history, but how you make sense of your own story and what you're hoping to change. From there, we build a treatment plan together that reflects your goals, not a generic protocol. For individuals, I draw on CBT, ACT, IFS, and somatic approaches depending on what fits. For couples, I use the Gottman Method alongside Emotionally Focused Therapy, with a focus on rebuilding safety, understanding each partner's emotional world, and creating new patterns — not just better communication scripts. Sessions are telehealth, available to clients in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I keep my caseload intentionally sized so I can be genuinely present with each person I work with.
