Getting to know Victoria Rodriguez

The provider is a “Licensed Professional Counselor" and their license number is 37PC01125800. Your mental health journey is unique, and your therapy should be too. I'm passionate about providing personalized care that addresses your specific needs. With a Master's in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from City University of New York, John Jay, and a Bachelor's from the University of New Haven, I bring a strong educational foundation to our work together. We'll delve into the intricate interplay of your lifestyle, environment, and biology to understand the root of your symptoms and develop a tailored treatment plan. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person Centered Therapy, we'll explore how your thoughts and behaviors shape your emotions. I'm committed to providing you with a thorough understanding of your symptoms and diagnosis, empowering you to navigate challenges with confidence. Let's work together to create a holistic approach that prioritizes your well-being. All are welcome.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When we begin working together, my first priority is getting to know you—not just your symptoms, but your story, values, and the life you’re trying to build. I approach therapy as a collaborative process that supports your growth, grounded in emotional awareness, practical tools, and deep respect for your lived experience. My style is calm, attentive, and curious. I integrate approaches like CBT, DBT-informed skills, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and IFS-informed parts work to help clients navigate anxiety, burnout, identity shifts, and emotional overwhelm. I use these frameworks flexibly—guided by what feels most relevant and supportive to you. I often work with clients who feel disconnected from themselves, exhausted by self-doubt or pressure, or unclear about what they truly want. A big part of our work may be slowing down, getting present, and reconnecting with the values that give your life meaning. I believe that clarity and change come not just from insight, but from living in alignment with what matters most to you. As a Cuban-American therapist, I bring a bicultural lens to therapy. I spoke Spanish with my abuela and Spanglish with my parents, and I understand what it’s like to hold multiple identities at once. You don’t need to explain every detail of your culture for me to understand its emotional weight. My goal is to offer a space where your whole self feels welcome. I also have a strong interest in mind-body wellness, and when helpful, I integrate elements of lifestyle psychology—like nutrition, sleep, or the gut-brain connection—to support your emotional health holistically. Therapy with me is about realignment. It’s a space to step back, reflect, and move forward in a way that feels grounded, intentional, and true to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together begins with curiosity and care. Before our first session, I’ll send you a few short assessments to get a sense of what you’re navigating—emotionally, mentally, and physically. In our first meeting, we’ll explore what brings you to therapy, what feels off, and what’s most important to you—not just reducing symptoms, but building a life that feels more aligned and sustainable. In early sessions, we focus on building trust and clarity. I’ll listen closely, reflect themes, and help you connect patterns between your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and even physical wellness. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stuck, we’ll start by introducing practical tools for relief and emotional regulation. As therapy progresses, I adapt sessions to meet your evolving needs. I often integrate: Mindfulness practices to help you slow down and reconnect to the present ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to clarify your values and guide action DBT-informed strategies to support emotional balance and coping IFS-informed “parts work” to explore inner conflict and build self-trust Wellness psychology focused on the mind-body connection—nutrition, sleep, movement, and gut-brain health Holistic therapy with me often means honoring how your environment, habits, relationships, and identity shape your well-being. If you're curious, we can explore how food affects mood, how burnout shows up in the body, or how cultural norms might shape your self-talk and emotional patterns. My approach is also culturally sensitive. As a bicultural, Cuban-American therapist, I understand how complex it can be to hold multiple identities, especially when you’re navigating first-gen stress, family expectations, or cultural shame around emotions. You don’t have to translate your experience for me—I aim to hold space for all of it. Whether you're seeking insight, tools, healing, or just a place to exhale, our sessions will evolve to support what matters most to you.

The person I got was not the person I booked. What is the point of reading the reviews of the therapist if they’re not even the one you end up getting?

Victoria is excellent. I was going through some tough mental times after my wife was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Victoria made me feel at ease since it was my first time seeking any type of talk therapy. She was very helpful, sharing information and explaining some exercising that might help me get through my tough moments. She helped me think clearer and it made coping with my current situation a lot easier. Thank you Victoria!
I've been seeing Victoria for the past few months and she has been great to work with. You can tell how much she cares about her patients & truly wants the best for them. Would highly recommend speaking with her!
As someone who is newer to therapy, I feel I completely lucked out with Victoria. She is personable, patient, compassionate, easy to talk to and to connect with. She has been fantastic helping me through difficult situations that have come up and has been an immense help in shifting my mindset. She gives me great perspectives and ways think of situations in a new light. I would highly recommend her!
Victoria is an exceptional LMHC and highly knowledgeable in her field. From day 1, I took note of how compassionate and relatable she is and instantly felt comfortable confiding in her. She has been such an excellent resource for me and has guided me through difficult situations time and time again! I have had sessions with other mental health counselors in the past and would stop seeing them within the first couple of sessions. However, with Victoria, it has been seven months since I began seeing her, and every session is a great one; every session is one I look forward to! I love her perspective and the way she has helped me with mine.
My Visit with Dr. Rodriguez was wonderful, I felt listened to and heard which is an experience that's been hard for me to find in my visits with other professionals. Dr. Rodriguez paid attention to my concerns and gave me the space to ask questions when I needed to. I would highly recommend her and her practice to anyone looking for a therapist that is empathetic, kind and honest.
