The people who find me rarely look like they're in crisis. They look capable, dependable, quietly exhausted, able to name everyone's needs but their own. What they're carrying isn't a character flaw. It's the quiet aftermath of trauma, the hidden kind that rarely announces itself, and healing it is the center of my work. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Mesa with more than ten years of experience. The anxiety, the people-pleasing, the shutting down, the overreacting: these are almost never the real problem. They're strategies you built to survive something that never got tended to, and they can finally rest once we heal what's driving them. I use EMDR, Internal Family Systems, CBT, and mindfulness to reach the places insight alone can't, so the change actually holds. If your faith is part of who you are, it's welcome here and never required. My hope is simple: that you walk out able to hear your own voice again, and trust it.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Here's the first thing worth knowing: I didn't come to this work from a textbook alone. I came the long way, as the client first, learning to trust a voice I'd spent years talking over. So when you sit across from me, you're getting someone who understands from the inside what it costs to walk through the door, and what becomes possible once you do. I want our time together to feel less like an interrogation and more like an honest conversation, the kind you might have over coffee. That means real talk and clear insight rather than passive nodding, room for humor even when the subject is heavy, and no sense of being rushed or judged. You'll be treated as a whole person and never as a diagnosis. You don't need the right words, a tidy explanation, or a clear place to begin. If you can tell me something feels off, that's enough to start, and we'll find the rest together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Starting with someone new can feel like a leap, so I try to make the path clear from the very beginning, with no surprises and no pressure. We begin with a free 15-minute call where you can ask questions, share a little about what's bringing you in, and get a feel for whether we're a good fit. If it feels right, your first full session is an intake, an unhurried conversation where we get to know your story and the patterns you've noticed. There's nothing to prepare. From there, the work usually unfolds in phases. Before we go near anything painful, we build the steadiness and grounding you'll need, so you're never asked to step into a hard memory without a way back. When you feel ready, we move into the deeper processing, using EMDR and the other tools that fit you, and you stay in control of the pace throughout. As the old reactions soften, we turn toward integration: rebuilding trust in yourself, setting honest limits, and showing up in your relationships as the person you actually are. Some weeks will feel like breakthroughs and others like small, quiet steps forward, and both matter. Sessions are usually weekly or biweekly but we'll find a rhythm that works for your life.
