What should a new client know about working with you?

I help individuals navigate life’s complexities by uncovering deeper meaning, fostering resilience, and transforming their relationships with themselves and the world. My approach blends existential and depth-oriented therapy with evidence-based modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and narrative therapy, to guide clients toward lasting change. As the founder of Nexus Counseling, I explore how knowledge and meaning are embodied across cognitive, emotional, somatic, and transpersonal levels. In therapy, we don’t just address thoughts—we work with the full spectrum of experience, integrating emotion, bodily awareness, and relational patterns to create total transformation. I specialize in working with adults who are exploring identity, purpose, and transitions, including: 1) Life Meaning & Existential Concerns – Finding clarity in uncertainty, navigating major life shifts 2) Anxiety & Emotional Regulation – Cultivating grounding techniques and cognitive flexibility 3) Trauma & Deep Healing – Addressing the impact of past experiences through an integrative, body-informed lens 4) Spiritual Exploration & Integration – Supporting seekers, skeptics, and those on nontraditional spiritual paths

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The diagnostic process includes using typical assessments, such as PCL-5, PHQ-9, and GAD-7, to clarify baselines and track progress. I practice talk therapy using the modalities mentioned above through a standard narrative therapeutic process of problem identification, problem deconstruction, externalization, and re-storying. The process might not always be the exact same because I use an integrative approach that pulls from Jungian, Existential, and ACT. Thus, the process will look different depending on the problem. For Jungian, the process follows an examination of dominant archetypes and personality traits and helps clients reshape themselves at a foundational level over time. For ACT, the process is much more behavioral. It follows the ACT Hexaflex approach that encourages clients to examine their lives from each area of the model: Acceptance, Defusion, Present-focused awareness, Observing Self, Values Clarification, and Values Enactment. Lastly, for Existential, the process is much more interpersonal and open-ended, with less focus on technique. However, if clients are interested, I have created activities exploring existential themes (death, loneliness, meaninglessness, and freedom). Existential therapy is successful when clients who struggle with these realities feel that they can return to normal functioning after working with me.
