Virgil M. Williams Jr. holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Wayne State University, a Master’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University’s School of Social Work, and an associate degree from Wayne County Community College. He has over 30 years of hands-on experience in the field of social work. Mr. Williams has worked as a Pre-Court Screener, Clinical Therapist, and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program Specialist. He has assisted the State of Michigan in the development and implementation of ACT program fidelity across the state. He has served as a Clinical Administrator at both outpatient and psychiatric hospital levels. Mr. Williams has also served as President of Wayne State’s School of Social Work Alumni Board, volunteered on several advisory boards, and worked on political campaigns at local and state levels. He developed Mental Health Outpatient Clinics in Wayne County and was appointed to a committee seat on Wayne County’s Community Mental Health Agency Planning Committee. Mr. Williams is a strong advocate for patients with severe and persistent mental illness and works closely with local and state regulatory agencies to affect positive change in the lives of those he serves. Recently, Virgil Williams Jr. returned to his hometown of Union City, TN, where he opened his own Mental Health and Substance Abuse Clinic. He is passionate about giving back to the community that raised him.
