Getting to know Virginia Brown

Virginia Brown is an LCSW. Their current employer is Institute for Personal Growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am an LCSW, LCADC and I’ve worked in both clinical and administrative capacities in a variety of inpatient and outpatient mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring treatment settings with a wide range of clients for 30 years.  I have had a private practice since 1998. Every client is different and has different needs and goals. I tend to be practical and I utilize approaches including cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, motivational interviewing, and client centered approaches to create a safe space and a psychotherapeutic relationship that help clients achieve their treatment goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

It is critically important for me to create a safe space for clients to be able share their authentic selves and the struggles that they are facing. It is through this experience and the therapeutic connection that enduring solutions can emerge to help clients get on and stay on a better life path.
