“Virginia has the most calm and understanding presence. While I have worked with therapists in a similar fashion, something about Virginia puts me at ease and has allowed my personal development to progress in ways that seemed impossible before. Virginia has made herself available outside of our scheduled time which has been comforting to know and necessary when needed. All in all, I was in a freefall and Virgina was a safe place to land. Would recommend her to anyone with full confidence. ”

Getting to know Virginia Gutman

You’re tired of feeling exhausted from the constant worry about your relationship. You know something needs to change but you’re not sure how to get there. That’s where I come in. You’ve done what you can to keep yourself from having spiraling thoughts about your relationship with your partner or while dating someone new but you realize you need help that’s specifically for you. You want someone who is in touch with dating, working, living in a post-pandemic tech-centered world AND knows how to help you go from surviving with anxiety to thriving with self-assuredness. I create an inviting space where you’ll feel completely understood. My role in our work together is to tune into what you’re going through, and offer you a compassionate presence so you know you don’t have to carry this weight alone anymore. We’ll explore the root of your anxiety, and I’ll tailor tools and strategies that are most effective and aligned to you. My goal is for you to leave sessions feeling truly heard and supported, equipped with practical next steps that help you build greater confidence and certainty in yourself and in your relationships. You’ll actually feel and see the difference in your day to day life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In the 13 plus years I’ve been practicing I’ve had the privilege of working with all sorts of people from all different walks of life. This was a great foundation for me to figure out how to tailor therapy to any type of client I was presented with. But I’ve realized over the years that my greatest passion—and where I see the most success—is in helping people navigate anxiety, especially the anxiety they experience in romantic relationships. So it’s what I’ve focused on fine tuning. Whether that’s in professional trainings I complete, podcasts I listen to featuring experts in the psychology or relationship fields, books or research articles I read, or what I’ve experienced first hand in sessions, I’m continually looking for more ways to support my clients. It’s a huge honor to help people have more fulfilling lives and relationships. My clients get the benefit of a therapist who combines her passion, personal life experience, and professional expertise to help with anxiety and relationship issues in a space that is authentically comfortable to share in.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll start by having meetings weekly or every other week and we’ll explore together what you’re struggling with as well as identify the deeper source of the issue. We’ll also address exactly why you started looking for a therapist to begin with- learning how to feel confident in yourself and in your relationships. With strategies gained that help you have calmer thoughts, better conversations, and more confidence, you’ll be building more fulfilling relationships and a more enjoyable life.
