Getting to know Viviana Ramirez

As a therapist, I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to healing. I value collaboration and view my clients as active partners in their therapeutic process. My work is grounded in a psychodynamic lens, allowing us to explore how past experiences, relational patterns, and unconscious processes shape present-day thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I utilize traditional talk therapy to create space for insight, reflection, and meaningful change, while tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of the individual or family. I am certified in EMDR and look forward to utilizing these skills with my clients and community. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address unhelpful thought patterns, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build distress tolerance and emotional regulation skills, and mindfulness practices to help clients develop greater self-awareness, grounding, and presence. My goal is to create a supportive, culturally responsive, and affirming space where clients feel understood, empowered, and equipped with tools that align with who they are and what they need.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a Latina and clinician of color, mental health within the BIPOC community is deeply important to me. I am mindful of the cultural, historical, and systemic factors that have shaped how mental health is viewed and accessed within our communities. For many, there has been long-standing stigma, shame, or fear associated with seeking support, often rooted in generational experiences, cultural expectations, and a lack of representation within mental health spaces. I strive to actively challenge these barriers by providing advocacy, education, and compassionate care that is culturally responsive and affirming. I am a firm believer that therapy is for everyone—not only during moments of crisis, but also as a space for growth, healing, and self-exploration. No concern is too “small” or insignificant to deserve attention; whether clients are navigating major life transitions, identity exploration, relational stress, or everyday emotional challenges, all experiences are valid. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment where clients feel seen, respected, and empowered to seek support without judgment, knowing that asking for help is a strength and an act of self-care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I have experience working with clients across the lifespan, including children as young as six years old, adolescents, and adults. My work is grounded in meeting each client at their developmental level and honoring the unique social, emotional, and cultural contexts that shape their experiences. I am especially passionate about supporting individuals within the BIPOC community and serving clients from marginalized and historically underrepresented populations, recognizing the impact of systemic inequities, discrimination, and intergenerational stress on mental health. I have supported clients navigating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational and family challenges, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and difficulties related to stress, identity, and life transitions. I approach each concern with care and curiosity, understanding that symptoms often reflect deeper unmet needs or adaptive responses to lived experiences. My goal is to provide a safe, affirming, and collaborative space where clients feel empowered to explore challenges, build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and move toward healing and personal growth at their own pace.
