Getting to know Viviana Ramirez

Viviana’s inspiration to become a therapist comes from her own experience with therapy at a young age—an experience that truly changed her life and opened her up to possibilities she didn’t think were available to her at the time. Being on the other side of the couch gave her a firsthand understanding of how powerful the therapeutic relationship can be in promoting healing and meaningful change. Because of that lived experience, Viviana leads with empathy and warmth in her work today. "I know first hand how intimidating it can feel to try something unfamiliar and begin building trust with a stranger, and I hold that awareness with care as I support clients through their own therapeutic journeys." I am certified in EMDR and look forward to utilizing these skills with my clients and community. Viviana’s therapeutic style is deeply collaborative. She is intentional about ensuring clients never feel like they are being treated as “guinea pigs” or test subjects—an experience she recognize can be a barrier that keeps many people from seeking therapy in the first place. Instead, she emphasizes working with clients, acting as a guide to help figure out what works best for them rather than telling them what to do. “Therapy is a team effort—one rooted in partnership, shared exploration, and mutual respect.”

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a Latina and clinician of color, mental health within the BIPOC community is deeply important to me. I am mindful of the cultural, historical, and systemic factors that have shaped how mental health is viewed and accessed within our communities. For many, there has been long-standing stigma, shame, or fear associated with seeking support, often rooted in generational experiences, cultural expectations, and a lack of representation within mental health spaces. I strive to actively challenge these barriers by providing advocacy, education, and compassionate care that is culturally responsive and affirming. I am a firm believer that therapy is for everyone—not only during moments of crisis, but also as a space for growth, healing, and self-exploration. No concern is too “small” or insignificant to deserve attention; whether clients are navigating major life transitions, identity exploration, relational stress, or everyday emotional challenges, all experiences are valid. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment where clients feel seen, respected, and empowered to seek support without judgment, knowing that asking for help is a strength and an act of self-care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

One of Viviana’s greatest strengths as a clinician is the genuine investment she takes in her clients and their well-being. "I approach each client as a unique individual, never as a number to be checked off, and I feel honored to be part of their journey." Viviana believes that therapy is reciprocal—that therapists learn just as much from their clients as clients learn from them. Because of this, she intentionally avoids positioning herself as an authority figure with all the answers. Instead, she shows up as another human being offering support, curiosity, and care along the path to healing. I have supported clients navigating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational and family challenges, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and difficulties related to stress, identity, and life transitions. I approach each concern with care and curiosity, understanding that symptoms often reflect deeper unmet needs or adaptive responses to lived experiences. My goal is to provide a safe, affirming, and collaborative space where clients feel empowered to explore challenges, build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and move toward healing and personal growth at their own pace. “I create safety and affirmation by allowing my personality to shine through my work—often using humor to help clients feel more comfortable and at ease.” Viviana believes that authenticity builds trust and helps clients feel more open in the therapeutic space.
