Wade Peterson

Psychotherapist
TX
Many people come to therapy feeling exhausted from years of simply surviving. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, self-criticism, or a persistent sense of disconnection from themselves and others. My goal is to help clients move beyond survival patterns and create a life that feels more grounded, connected, and meaningful. I specialize in the treatment of complex trauma, PTSD, attachment wounds, and addiction, including both substance use and process addictions such as pornography, gambling, emotional eating, and other compulsive behaviors. I also work with anxiety disorders, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depression, mood disorders, anger, and relationship concerns. As an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), I integrate Attachment-Focused EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other trauma-informed approaches to help clients process painful experiences, regulate emotions, improve relationships, and build greater self-trust. I believe healing is not about fixing who you are. It is about understanding the story behind your pain with compassion rather than shame. Together, we identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, strengthen emotional awareness, develop healthier boundaries, and create lasting change. My professional background includes work in residential treatment, outpatient care, and the judicial system, providing experience supporting individuals with complex life circumstances. I have also been recognized as “Mom Approved” by DFW Child Magazine. Whether you are seeking therapy for the first time or returning after previous counseling experiences, I strive to provide a genuine, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where meaningful healing and growth can occur.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in helping adults heal from complex trauma, PTSD, attachment wounds, anxiety, depression, and addiction, including process addictions such as pornography, gambling, emotional eating, and compulsive behaviors. My approach combines EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-focused therapy, and trauma-informed cognitive behavioral techniques to help clients process painful experiences, regulate emotions, improve relationships, build self-trust, and create lasting change. Therapy with me is collaborative, direct, compassionate, and tailored to your unique experiences and goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first sessions focus on understanding your history, current concerns, and goals for therapy. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress, relationship difficulties, or unwanted behaviors. As therapy progresses, we work on developing practical coping skills, increasing emotional awareness, processing unresolved experiences, and creating healthier ways of relating to yourself and others. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can feel understood while doing meaningful work toward healing and growth.
