Getting to know Wally Mueller

Hello, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in California. I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute. My therapy practice is client-focused, meaning you are your own expert, and my job is to help you find your best answers. My approach I use various therapeutic approaches; each person is unique, and I apply theories as they fit your situation. I frequently use Seeking Safety, positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy, with a trauma-informed perspective. My focus I've worked with a diverse clientele aged 13 to 80, including those with depression, anxiety, trauma, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and intellectual disability. I have experience with many transgender individuals. My community is diverse, with many family configurations and alternative lifestyles. While I prefer working with individuals, I respect your relationship choices. My communication style I am told I have a calm and reassuring presence. Therapy can be challenging and sometimes uncomfortable, but I highlight success, progress, and strengths you may not recognize. I believe you will find our work worth your time and effort. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist after decades of recovery from mental health struggles. I was a depressed teenager, had suicidal thoughts, was a single parent, and discovered my gender identity late in life. These experiences are parts of my growth and self-discovery. I believe everyone has their own journey and superpowers to claim and be proud of. It is an honor to assist others on their path.
