Getting to know Wendi Lev

Values-Driven, Evidence-Based, Results-Driven Psychotherapy and Couples Counseling for High-Achieving Individuals and Couples. Wendi Lev, LCSW, ACSW, CADC, brings extensive clinical expertise to helping clients break this cycle. Explicitly rejecting a passive approach, she provides active, integrative psychotherapy that merges insight with evidence-based, values-driven skills. Her background includes serving as a staff psychotherapist at the Stone Institute of Psychiatry at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and completing advanced training in substance abuse treatment at the Yale University School of Medicine. Wendi equips clients with actionable tools to dismantle entrenched patterns, rebuild connections, and unlock sustainable high performance. Areas of Specialization: * Burnout and stress * Perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and self-doubt * Depression, anxiety, OCD, and ADHD * Male-specific issues * Substance use * Life transitions * Dating, breakups, divorce, and the distinct challenges of being single * Couples therapy: Integrating the Gottman Method Levels 1–3, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and sex therapy, she helps heal intimacy fractures and halt destructive communication and conflict loops. Wendi believes that when time is at a premium, therapy should fit seamlessly into your life. She offers evening and weekend appointments.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Authentic Style & Therapy Approach Therapy with me is a direct, active partnership. I am not a passive clinician who simply sits back and nods, and I reject the model that people should be in therapy for 10 years. My goal is for you to attain results sooner rather than later. I am fully engaged in the process with you, even when the work feels tough. If you are used to carrying the pressures of life, career, relationships, or personal challenges on your own, our alliance can provide a protective anchor. I provide a nonjudgmental, confidential space where you know someone is truly in your corner and has your back. The genuine connection and trust we build become the engine of change and the first step in breaking through isolation. You can expect our sessions to be analytical, candid, and human—grounded in warmth, authenticity, and practical humor. My work is rooted in an unwavering belief in your inherent strengths and potential. Together, we will clear away the temporary distortions of self-doubt so you can see your capabilities more clearly. We will work as a team to transform personal insight into tangible, daily adjustments that decrease reactivity, irritability, and overwhelm. As a solo practitioner, you will work exclusively with me, ensuring continuity and momentum. You will never be handed off to a junior associate. Minor note: **“nonjudgmental”** is commonly written without a hyphen, though **“non-judgmental”** is also acceptable.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The First Session: Rather than adhering to the traditional intake model (clinical data-gathering), my goal is for us to establish a genuine connection. • History & Lived Experience: I listen carefully to how your challenges took root. I recognize that priorities evolve—sometimes the goal is simply to figure out what the goal is. Our work remains responsive to your changing needs. • Momentum & Consistency: Optimal outcomes rely on a strong alliance. I prioritize standing weekly appointments (especially during the first few months) to build the momentum required for internal alignment and sustainable high performance. • Structure & Impact: Using Deliberate Practice and Feedback-Informed Treatment (FIT), we check in during every session. This ensures our partnership is never transactional and is consistently optimized for decisive clarity and emotional agility.

Insurance and financial coverage can be confusing. I handle as much of the process as possible to reduce stress and clarify any ambiguity. *Insurance* I am in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Anthem PPO, and Aetna. Once your intake forms are completed and you provide a copy of your insurance card, I verify benefits and submit claims on your behalf. Coverage, copays, and deductibles vary by plan, and you are responsible for any portion not covered by insurance. For out-of-network services, I can provide a superbill upon request for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. *Fees (60-minute sessions)* - Initial individual session: $200 - Ongoing individual sessions: $180 - Initial couples therapy session: $300 - Ongoing couples therapy sessions: $250 Payment is due at the time of service. *Consistency & Scheduling* To support effective progress, I recommend meeting weekly or securing a standing appointment, especially early on, to build momentum and avoid interruptions. *Groups* In addition to individual and couples therapy, I periodically offer focused therapy groups. Groups are structured and require a brief consultation before joining to ensure a good fit. Group sessions are separate from individual therapy and do not accept insurance. I had such a poor experience trying to work with Wendi. I was rescheduled twice with no warning or heads up. The first time she asked to reschedule the day of our session due to an emergency, I was totally understanding and was fine with it. The next session we had scheduled, she messaged me 9 minutes before our session saying she has to reschedule again. I was already on the way to my appointment when I found out. This was supposed to be my first appointment with Wendi, and the way she handled the whole situation was so unprofessional and rude. She didn’t give any further explanation, simply just cancelled right before the session.
Excellent

I was looking forward to starting therapy given her reviews. First attempt at an appointment was cancelled 20 mins before my appointment due to her mom breaking her hip. I rescheduled a couple weeks later and 10 mins before my appointment she told me she’s dealing with a serious illness but will be available the rest of the week. Don’t waste your time.
Verified patient
My experience wasn’t good. She was 35 minutes late, and also left twice during the session to go to the bathroom. She was unorganized, and a little fidgety. She never answered any of my questions and kept asking me why I was there and what I wanted to accomplish. She was also pretty expensive. 200 for no advice.
Outstanding! Left feeling much better

I just recently started DBT therapy with Wendi and it has been great learning new tools how to regulate strong emotions in a healthy way. I love having tangible takeaways and notes that I can refer back to and practice. Wendi has been a great resource for providing different perspectives and actions that I can take towards healing.
Wendi is down-to/earth and very relatable.
Verified patient
Wendi Lev, has been a rock for me throughout my time with her. I have read a few negative reviews and I can't imagine having anything less than a good experience with her. Wendi always gives 110 percent. And she is the most empathetic woman I've ever met.
