Getting to know Wendi Lev

With 30 years of clinical experience, I specialize in working with high achievers—individuals and couples who navigate the intense, often isolating pressures of a high-stakes lifestyle. I provide a discreet, nonjudgmental space for those who hold themselves to exceptional standards but find themselves struggling with the internal toll of that drive: chronic anxiety, self-doubt, or the weight of life transitions. My practice is designed for those who appear high-functioning yet are privately managing depression, relationship fractures, or substance abuse. My approach is integrative, meaning I don't rely on a "one-size-fits-all" method. I blend evidence-based strategies to fit your unique situation and history. Psychodynamic therapy helps us understand the "why" behind repeating patterns. CBT and DBT provide tangible, in-the-moment tools to manage anxiety and intense emotions. ACT helps you stay grounded and take action aligned with your values when you feel lost or overwhelmed. To ensure our work leads to optimal outcomes, I prioritize the strength of the therapeutic relationship and utilize Feedback-Informed Treatment (FIT). This collaborative process allows us to monitor your progress in real-time and adjust our work together as needed. In my work with couples, I treat the relationship as the client. Integrating the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, I help partners navigate everything from infidelity and intimacy gaps to the complexities of divorce or separation. We move beyond "venting" to master the mechanics of connection, rebuilding trust, and bridging the gap between public accomplishments and private fulfillment. My foundation was built as a Staff Psychotherapist at Michael Reese Hospital and the Stone Institute of Psychiatry at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. I deeply understand the pressure you face and the exhaustion of performing perfectly on the outside while struggling internally. You won't have to explain burnout to me-I get it.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Choosing a therapist is about finding a sense of resonance. I believe the strength of our connection is the foundation for all progress, which is why I view the opportunity to walk alongside you as a profound honor and privilege. • Solo Practitioner Excellence: When you book with me, you work exclusively with me. Your care, history, and progress are never handed off to a junior associate. This ensures a consistent, discreet, and deeply personalized clinical partnership—the “concierge” standard high achievers require. • Active Partnership, Not Passive Listening: I am not a therapist who simply sits and nods. I am an engaged, active participant in your progress. I provide direct perspective and tangible tools while bringing my authentic self—including warmth and a healthy dose of humor—to ensure the deep, “heavy” work remains human and productive. • Momentum-Driven Results: Optimal outcomes rely on a strong alliance and active participation. Especially at the start, I prioritize standing weekly appointments to build the traction required for internal alignment and sustainable excellence. • Flexible Scheduling for High Achievers: I understand that your professional and personal demands do not always fit into a nine-to-five window. To ensure your mental and emotional clarity never has to compete with your career or personal life, I offer evening and weekend appointments in addition to regular business hours. • What Clients Experience: Those I work with consistently describe our sessions as a strategic partnership. They value my ability to distill complex patterns into actionable insights quickly. The result is a shift from feeling “stuck” to experiencing internal recalibration and a heightened sense of agency in both their professional and personal worlds.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our process is designed to be high-impact, fluid, and deeply human from the very first minute. • Initial Session (The First Kiss): Following Dr. Daryl Chow, our first meeting is a transformative connection designed for immediate clarity and engagement. We bypass traditional “intake” models to ensure you experience a meaningful shift within the first hour. • Targeted Assessments: - Gottman Method: A three-part clinical deep dive for couples to map relationship strengths with precision. - Prepare/Enrich: A data-driven assessment for premarital couples to build a roadmap for long-term relational success. • History & Lived Experience: I listen carefully to how your challenges took root. I recognize that priorities evolve—sometimes the goal is simply to figure out what the goal is. Our work remains responsive to your changing needs. • Momentum & Consistency: Optimal outcomes rely on a strong alliance. I prioritize standing weekly appointments (especially during the first few months) to build the momentum required for internal alignment and sustainable high performance. • Structure & Impact: Using Deliberate Practice and Feedback-Informed Treatment (FIT), we check in during every session. This ensures our partnership is never transactional and is consistently optimized for decisive clarity and emotional agility.

Cancellations or missed appointments with less than 24 hours’ notice (after the initial appointment booked through the ZocDoc marketplace) are charged the full session fee. *Consistency & Scheduling* To support effective progress, I recommend meeting weekly or securing a standing appointment, especially early on, to build momentum and avoid interruptions. *Groups* In addition to individual and couples therapy, I periodically offer focused therapy groups. Groups are structured and require a brief consultation before joining to ensure a good fit. Group sessions are separate from individual therapy and do not accept insurance. I was looking forward to starting therapy given her reviews. First attempt at an appointment was cancelled 20 mins before my appointment due to her mom breaking her hip. I rescheduled a couple weeks later and 10 mins before my appointment she told me she’s dealing with a serious illness but will be available the rest of the week. Don’t waste your time.
Verified patient
My experience wasn’t good. She was 35 minutes late, and also left twice during the session to go to the bathroom. She was unorganized, and a little fidgety. She never answered any of my questions and kept asking me why I was there and what I wanted to accomplish. She was also pretty expensive. 200 for no advice.
Outstanding! Left feeling much better
