“Whitney is a pleasure. She’s professional, but still comfortable to talk to, she’s very flexible and accommodating of one’s time. There have even been times where I didn’t have an immediate session, but she never hesitated to find a way to squeeze me in. 10/10 would recommend. ”

Getting to know Whitney Whitaker

I am a compassionate, client-centered therapist who provides a supportive and nonjudgmental space for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. My approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and respect, with a strong focus on helping clients build emotional awareness, healthier coping skills, and stronger relationships. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and family or co-parenting stress. My goal is to help clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes at their own pace.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many people come into therapy feeling intimidated or uncertain about what to expect. I believe therapy should not feel scary or uncomfortable in that way. I meet clients where they are, honor their lived experiences, and move at a pace that feels manageable. I am honest and direct when needed, while always respecting each client’s autonomy. You do not need to have everything figured out to start therapy—showing up is already a meaningful step. My role is to support you in making sense of things as we go, without judgment or pressure.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy begins with building rapport and understanding your story, current concerns, and goals. Early sessions focus on creating emotional safety, identifying patterns, and clarifying what you want from therapy. As we continue, sessions may include emotional processing, skill-building, boundary work, coping strategies, and insight-oriented discussion tailored to your needs. I regularly check in about progress and adjust our work collaboratively to ensure therapy remains helpful, relevant, and supportive of your growth.
