Getting to know Widlyne Lopez

Highly motivated Registered Clinical Social Work Intern with over 10 years of experience working with clients and their families to achieve improved mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Central Florida.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I obtained my undergraduate degree from Florida International University and graduate degree from the University of Central Florida in the field of social work. Experience includes working with children and families ensuring their safety and well-being while identifying and assessing their needs. When providing guidance, compassion and support, I use different methods to connect with clients based on their situations. As a result, clients build upon their strengths to overcome internal/external stressors and traumatic events. Through my years of experience working with children, families and youths, they have learned the necessary skills to improve their lives by enhancing their support system. My overall goal is to educate clients and allow them to realize their own growing potential.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Developing the client therapist(clinician) relationship is a very important component. This involves building a trusting and open relationship between the client and therapist. This allows for the client to develop self-exploration and readiness for change. Once this relationship is established, the next steps are to assess the presenting problem, collaborate on setting treatment plan goals through appropriate /effective interventions and planning throughout this process to prepare clients for discharge and follow-ups.
