Getting to know William Benson

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 14 years of experience, beginning as a chemical dependency counselor while working my way through college to obtain my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas, San Antonio. I have worked in the Texas prison system as an In-Prison Therapeutic Community Counselor, helping clients understand and overcome their addictions and criminal lifestyles before exiting prison on parole. Following that, I spent more than eight years assisting the homeless population in San Antonio, Texas, supporting clients as they rebuilt their lives after struggles with addiction and homelessness. I have also worked with first responders, veterans, and many others experiencing trauma and stress. Through my experience, I have found that trauma often leads people to accept drugs and other substances as a way to control or manage their pain, only to discover over time that they have developed an addiction they need to address.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I like to educate my clients on what they are experiencing and why. And then educate them on proven therapies and strategies that can help them manage their lives in a better and more meaningful way.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
