Getting to know William Knight
Hi there, I'm William!
Ken Knight, PhD, LPC: Counselor, fitness trainer, and meditation coach in private practice. I hold a PhD in Counselor Education from The University of New Orleans. I utilize a holistic approach involving practices supported by biology and performance literature to augment classical counseling and achieve measurable, sustained improvements in mood, performance, and lifestyle.
My approach
What sets me apart is a mechanism- and results-driven approach using tactics backed by biology and performance research. Validation, empathy, challenging, and investigation of classical counseling remain central, but there is a strong focus on action steps framed by scientific understanding, measuring effects, and iterating based on feedback from real-world results. By augmenting counseling with mindfulness-based practices—including specific meditation regimens tailored to your obstacles and goals—along with targeted exercise, nutrition, rest cycle techniques, breath work, cold and heat exposure, organizational strategies, and personal finance training, we can achieve results that are concrete in measurement and satisfying in experience.
My focus
I am highly skilled at swiftly helping people take control of their moods. It is rare that a present state of emotional distress cannot be rapidly improved with the techniques I offer when properly undertaken. If you’ve had poor results in therapy before, don’t hesitate to reach out and see if a more mechanistic and scientific process can get you the results you seek. I am most interested in working with people who want to take clear actions to improve their emotional states, cognitive clarity, health, and lifestyle performance.
My communication style
I approach my work and life with the assumption that problems exist to be solved and that self-improvement comes through solving them. I am calm, thoughtful, and curious. I am not shy about offering observations or potential solutions.
