Getting to know William Lee

Hi, I'm William. I help parents work on the hard stuff so they can be the parents they want to be! I provide parents with a space dedicated to their parenthood and parenting. Whether you are a new parent, realizing you are like your own parent (and don’t want to repeat some traits), want a better relationship with your child, want to work through anger and resentment, or just want to figure some things out—I am here to help you be the parent you want to be. I specialize in depression, anger, resentment, intergenerational parenthood, parenting a challenging child, parent-child relationships, and transitioning to parenthood. I have been told I am warm, understanding, and personable. Most importantly, I help my clients get honest. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work. Areas of specialty: - Is it postpartum depression or anxiety? - What parenthood means to you—gain deep insight into your parenting values and style and how you relate to your child. - New parents—get support in adjusting to shifts in your identity and responsibilities. - Anger, guilt, resentment, shame, and grief—it is common to experience these emotions toward yourself, your child, and others. - Parent-child relationship—support in navigating parenting and your relationship with your child. - Regrets of being a parent. - Intergenerational parenthood—explore the valuable lessons from your parents and childhood experiences, extracting the best while shedding harmful patterns and behaviors. - Adjusting as your child grows—each stage of development presents new challenges, and it’s not always easy to navigate these changes. - Changing relationship with your partner—the once-familiar routines and romance have been disrupted, and it can be hard to navigate this new chapter.

What should a new client know about working with you?

For parents, I will create a space for you that is dedicated to your parenthood experience and how it fits into your life. We can focus on the difficult things, things we rarely talk openly about, and most importantly, how to get through them. Every session will be an experience for you. Meaning the experience of you expressing, processing and working through your thoughts, emotions and beliefs will be the key drivers to elicit change. Counseling takes work and is sometimes challenging, but it offers opportunities for healing and personal growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The focus of our sessions is to provide an experience for you. Meaning the experience of you expressing, processing and working through your thoughts, emotions, beliefs and relationships, will be the key drivers to elicit healing and changes within yourself. I will guide you to be honest and go deep so you can heal, get unstuck and ultimately lead a life you want to live.
