Getting to know William Snyder

Hi. I'm Bill. I'm currently accepting new clients for online sessions only. I work with adults experiencing symptoms such as anxiety, depressed mood, loss and grief, identity and self-concept difficulties, relationship problems, life-transition difficulties, and traumatic memories. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Millersville University. My therapy approach is straightforward and collaborative, designed to help you develop a healthier and happier life. We'll begin by identifying the circumstances that prompted you to seek therapy. Then I help you develop skills and solutions tailored to your needs to move forward toward that healthier life. It’s a collaborative process—you and I work together throughout. Depending on the circumstances, the therapy approach includes a combination of Mindfulness-based approaches (MBSR), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eastern perspectives (Zen Buddhist). These are used alongside Systematic Desensitization when addressing traumatic memories. Listening is the most important part of communication. If we truly listen to others without judgment, we can respond appropriately. As the Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh said, "Right Speech begins with Right Listening." I’m looking forward to working with you. PLEASE SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS ON THE HOUR.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During the first session, my primary objectives are 1) listening to you intently and non-judgmentally, during our interaction, while taking note of key information and themes, 2) empathizing with you regarding the circumstances that prompted you to seek therapy, and 3) using that initial body of information to develop basic and relevant approaches to help you build healthy empowerment, self-awareness, well-being, and more. Homework is assigned toward the end of each session. Following sessions build upon the last as more information typically surfaces in light of events that may occur between sessions. Also, we evaluate the effectiveness of skills developed during sessions and practiced between appointments. If necessary, we adjust those needing it to improve their effectiveness for you.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

He is a great listener and allows time for thoughtful discussion. Through positive and sometimes challenging discourse we have come to some really interesting perspectives and possible paths forward.
While I chose him because I saw that we already had some common viewpoints, Bill is willing to work within your own style and approach. It's difficult to shoehorn his style, because he is highly adaptive to your personal situation.
I feel that William listened well and understand my needs. I liked that he followed through on sending me much needed exercises to work on over the week until my next appointment. He was also very calming.

Doc was awesome. I would recommend using a laptop instead of your phone as I kept getting booted out and had to keep reconnecting. Dr honest and straightforward. Fun and easy to talk to. He does give homework.
