As a Licensed Professional Counselor with a dedication to serving individuals and families, I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to you. With a background spanning from military service to psychotherapy, my journey has been enriched by diverse experiences that have shaped my approach to mental health care. Since 2021, I have had the privilege of practicing psychotherapy, offering support to a diverse range of clients spanning from primary school children to adults and couples. This breadth of experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the unique challenges individuals face at different stages of life and in various relationship dynamics. Prior to embarking on my current career path, I proudly served in the U.S. Army and the Alabama National Guard, retiring in 2014. This time in the military instilled in me invaluable qualities such as discipline, resilience, and a profound sense of duty – attributes that continue to inform my practice as a counselor. Outside of my professional endeavors, I find immense joy and fulfillment in my role as a husband and father to four adult "children" and a son-in-law. My personal interests include dog training and fishing, activities that provide me with moments of tranquility and connection with nature. As a Christian, I hold deep convictions, yet I approach my work with an open heart and mind, respecting the diverse faiths and cultures of those I serve. My practice is rooted in empathy, compassion, and a commitment to meeting individuals where they are on their journey toward healing and growth. Thank you for considering Lake Counseling, LLC as your partner on the path to greater well-being. I look forward to the opportunity to support you in navigating life's challenges and discovering the strength within you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where we can work through challenges like trauma, ADHD, anxiety, or depression at a pace that feels right for you. I blend evidence-based approaches—including EMDR (for trauma), cognitive techniques (to reframe unhelpful thoughts), solution-focused strategies (to build on your strengths), and DBT skills (for emotion regulation). Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, so we’ll tailor tools to your needs. I’ll check in regularly to ensure our work aligns with your goals, and you’re always in control of what we discuss. Questions or hesitations? Let’s address them together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is about breaking the ice—getting to know you, your story, and what brings you in. We’ll build rapport and explore your goals at a comfortable pace. By session two, we’ll clarify your key challenges (like trauma, ADHD, or anxiety) and start structuring our work together. Moving forward, sessions blend evidence-based techniques—EMDR for trauma, cognitive tools for unhelpful thought patterns, or DBT skills for emotional regulation—all in a safe, nonjudgmental space. You set the tone; I’ll guide with practical strategies while checking in to ensure we’re on track. Think of it as collaborative problem-solving, with flexibility to adapt as needed.
