NJ
Mae Kent is the Founder of Phoenix Counseling and Trauma Treatment Center. She is a New Jersey State Licensed Clinical Social Worker and earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey – Camden. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science and History from Thomas Edison State University in Trenton, New Jersey, and graduated with an Associate in Arts from Rowan College (formerly Cumberland County College). Her passion is helping those who are struggling with the effects of trauma. This passion compelled her to establish a mental health practice specializing in the treatment of adults, age 18 and over, who have suffered physical or psychological/emotional trauma. Mae has been providing therapy and counseling for over 29 years and has extensive experience working with survivors of trauma. She has supported parents who’ve lost a child to suicide, counseled women who’ve experienced single or multiple miscarriages, worked with victims of domestic violence and incest, provided crisis counseling to sexual assault survivors, and facilitated groups for male incest survivors. Her years of experience have taught Mae much about helping people heal from trauma. She uses evidence-based approaches such as EMDR and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, both proven effective for treating trauma and related issues like PTSD, Complex PTSD, panic disorder, and anxiety. These techniques help clients process their experiences, address the root of their symptoms, and begin the healing process. Mae’s approach as a therapist is to be a good listener and facilitator, accompanying each client through their healing journey. She is an advocate, encourager, and the supportive ally you want by your side when the going gets tough.
