“Offer a wider range of times for therapist. Late night times midnight times, the times when most addicts or people would have problems. And also work on having the best audio in connections with sound and video possible. I believe you guys have a great platform, my therapist Willy Whitehead is beyond amazing and if they all are the same quality and caliber of Willie, what's those technical issues are completely ironed out, you could have a monopoly on therapy that is through Zoom because so many people have busy lives and can't meet in person. I would like to do in person because it is more personable :-), but the reality of it is that with a family and multiple jobs it's hard to meet in person sometimes.”

Getting to know Willie Whited

Hello, I'm Willie, a Vietnam-era veteran and a dedicated mental health professional with over three decades of experience. My journey in mental health began as a medical specialist, protecting our nation's heroes suffering from medical and mental health problems. After my service, I devoted 31 years to working with individuals in our communities facing serious mental health challenges and psychoactive substance addictions. My professional path has taken me through various esteemed institutions. I spent 12 years at Grady Memorial Hospital, where I wrote the format for community meetings, led the milieu program, and participated in schizophrenic research. At Fulton County Mental Health, I created and led the Dual Diagnosis program during its national infancy in 1989 and was honored with an Exceptional Service Award for my life-saving efforts. My work continued at the Dekalb Community Service Board for 23 years, where I coordinated group process clinical efforts and received an NAACP Nomination for community service. In addition to my clinical roles, I served as an adjunct instructor at Ashford University and a mental health clinician at Laurel Heights Hospital. I hold a Master’s in Social Work, a Master’s in Guidance and Counseling, and have completed all but a dissertation towards a Ph.D. in Academic Psychology. In 2016, I was privileged to attend the David Satcher Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine. My therapeutic approach is individually-focused and eclectic, ensuring that the interventions uniquely fit each person seeking positive change. I specialize in a wide range of areas, including addiction, ADHD, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, dissociative disorders, grief, life transitions, military and veteran support, multicultural and diversity issues, OCD, phobias, psychosis, PTSD, sleep disorders, stress, suicidal ideation, self-harming, and trauma.
