Getting to know Yana Kofman

I work with people in New York who are in the middle of their lives and tired of something that keeps not working: in a relationship, in how they feel about themselves, in the decisions they keep circling and never quite make. What I care about is helping you act in line with what you actually value, and relate to yourself and the people around you in healthier ways. I am direct. If I notice something, I say it. We work with what is really going on, not just the version you have already talked yourself into. I see individuals and couples for relationship patterns, anxiety, self-worth, and identity. I draw on CBT and Internal Family Systems when they help, but the point is never the method, it is whether your life actually changes.

What should a new client know about working with you?

That I will not sit quietly and let you circle the same thing for a year. I pay attention, and when I notice a pattern, I name it. The work is honest and collaborative, but it has a point: helping you make choices that line up with what you actually value, and relate to yourself and the people you love in healthier, more honest ways. If you want someone who will only nod along, I am probably not your person. If you actually want something to change, we will get to work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Most of my work is telehealth, with some in-person availability. Early on, we get clear on what actually is not working and what you want to be different, specifically enough that we would both know if it changed. From there, the work is steady and honest. I pay attention to patterns, and when I notice one, I name it. We look at what is really driving your choices and how you relate to yourself and the people who matter to you, and we practice doing it differently. I draw on CBT and Internal Family Systems when they are useful, but the method is never the point. The point is whether your life outside the room actually starts to move.

In-network insurances

Yana Kofman, LMHC is not in-network with any insurances

It’s common for mental health providers to be out-of-network. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage, so you may get partially reimbursed. Learn more

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $225 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $225 for 60 minutes
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork

More information on payments and coverage

I am out of network, which means I do not bill insurance directly. I made that choice so the work stays focused on you rather than on what a third party will authorize, without session limits, required diagnoses, or treatment plans set by someone who has never met you. If you have out-of-network benefits, I work with Thrizer, which can file your claims for you and, in many cases, let you pay only your portion at the time of session instead of waiting weeks for reimbursement. If you would rather handle it yourself, I can provide a monthly superbill you can submit to your insurer.

Shes awesome. Asks good questions.
I can't thank Yana enough for the positive impact she's had on my life. As a professional constantly battling stress and overwhelm, I felt like I was drowning. Yana provided a lifeline. Their expert guidance and compassionate approach made me feel heard and supported. Through our sessions, I've not only learned practical strategies to manage stress but also gained a deeper understanding of myself. I now face life's challenges with resilience and a newfound sense of calm. Yana is a true professional, and I wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone in need of support. Life-changing experience!
Great therapist. Helped me communicate better with wife and work on what’s important to me. Her office staff very friendly too.
Yana really helped me understand my stress and handle it in a productive way. She's a really great therapist and helped me become more confident at work, in my relationship, and when dealing with family.
Yana has been the most supportive, understanding therapist I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a few). she listens compassionately, but will call you out if need be. She’s helped me so much after I became a mom, and continues to be essential to helping me scale my new business, taking steps towards self-improvement, and building up my confidence. If you can get an appointment with her, definitely take it. I did have to wait a little bit but once I was on her schedule, I knew it was exactly what I needed. She’s almost like a therapist and executive coach rolled into one. She’s truly helped me get myself together and propel myself towards my goals. I look forward to every week!
Helped me through a lot of tough times. She’ll help understand urself in a deeper more meaningful way, and give u emotional tools to actually maintain a healthy life. Rly great therapist.
