Getting to know Yasmin Yazdi

My name is Yasmin. I am a trilingual, licensed psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience in the field of mental health. I have a B.A from UC Berkeley and a Masters from Columbia University. Throughout my career, I have worked in hospitals/residential, impatient and outpatient programs, and community clinics through the County Department of Mental Health. I have also directed a dual diagnosis addiction program through UCLA for several years. Aside from my therapeutic work, I have published a book of poetry and I have traveled and lived in several countries.

What should a new client know about working with you?

am trained in a plethora of evidenced based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, and Somatic Trauma approaches. I work from a humanistic and existential lens that incorporates narrative identity, empowerment, and radical acceptance. I also find it important to acknowledge that we live and experience life within our bodies and, for that reason, we can't address mental health without also understanding what is happening with our physical health (nutrition, sleep, physical activity, health conditions, etc).

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I work on creating therapeutic relationships that feel real, safe, and radically accepting. I am honest and straightforward to honor and respect the dignity and worth of every human I work with. I don't strive to tell people how to live their lives or fit them into a box when it comes to diagnosing. I support people in figuring out what they want and need, what is working and not working for them, and how to get through the barriers that prevent them from achieving their goals and desires.

Yasmin is an excellent therapist who has guided me to a more healthier and sustainable perspective. Her years of expertise is evident in her practice. As a client, she has been a wonderful advocate for me and she continues to be even when I had insurance issues. I look forward to working with her more.
I have been in therapy for over 20 years. I have never made the progress I have made with any other therapist since I started seeing Yasmin. She is so professional, helpful, kind, and patient. She has encouraged me and given me so many tools to use in my daily life and I have now achieved things that I never thought would have been possible. The best therapist hands down!
Working with Yasmin has been a really valuable experience. She creates a space where I can be open and honest, but also challenges me to think more deeply about my patterns, decisions, and mindset. I’ve appreciated her ability to balance listening with giving practical insight that I can actually apply in my day-to-day life. Our sessions have helped me build more self-awareness and approach situations with a clearer, more intentional perspective. I never feel judged, and I always leave with something actionable to reflect on or work toward. If you’re looking for someone who is thoughtful, grounded, and genuinely invested in your growth, I would highly recommend her.
Yasmin has been so helpful with my journey. She is very compassionate, understanding and has a great memory. You are not just another client. She is not judgmental if you do not meet the goals set for yourself. Rather she encourages you to keep striving for you to be the best you can be. You are not a failure in her eyes. She is very good at giving suggestions, listens to personal ideas and follows up to see how things went. She also uses the names of people in your life that you have referenced. That is really meaningful. She also cheers on your successes. No matter the size. Akin to the above, she tailors her interactions to your level. I have knowledge of medicine so she uses medical terminology and references. I really appreciate that in all of my medical providers. I believe I am very lucky to have come under Yasmin's care and look forward to our continued relationship.
Yasmin is helping me to unravel years of knotted trauma, and I don’t know how else to say it. She’s honest, compassionate, highly skilled, and client centered. After many years of well meaning therapists, I believe I’ve finally found someone who can truly help guide me home, to myself. Highly recommended.
I came to Yazmin after the loss of my daughter and I had issues with grief, PTST, depression, and anxiety. Together we worked on coping skills and achieving personal goals for myself. Yazmin has a gift for compassionate listening and psychotherapy. Through our sessions, we work through these issues, and it has been a game changer for me. I wish you success in your search, and I hope you find that right match, as I did.
Yasmin is amazing! She creates a space that feels genuinely supportive and empathetic, while also helping me see things from a totally different perspective. There’s a clarity in the way she explains things that really sticks with me. I’ve had a hard time finding a therapist who can do that in a way that feels both honest and productive, and she does it so well! She challenges me to think differently and examine my thought process through a new lens. I always leave sessions with more clarity and a stronger sense of direction. Super grateful for her support!
