Hi there, I'm Yessica! Hello, my name is Yessica Acosta, and I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #111189) since 2019. I earned my Master's in Psychology from Brandman University. My areas of practice include working with mild-to-moderate individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma/PTSD, relationship and job stressors, life transitions, self-esteem, and challenges with substance use/abuse. My approach My therapeutic approach is based on person-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-focused, strength-based, motivational interviewing, and trauma-focused (EMDR) techniques. Every individual is unique, so I collaborate with each person to find what works best for them in reaching their goals, personal growth, and healing. My focus I specialize in working with individuals facing stressors and challenges such as trauma and abuse, anxiety, depression, and substance use/abuse. My communication style My communication style is non-judgmental, warm, and empathic, helping you gain insight and awareness about what you want to address in therapy. I provide a safe and supportive environment where you will feel understood and heard, and where you can develop the skills needed to manage and overcome your challenges. My journey to mental healthcare I have been in the mental health field since the age of 18, initially focusing on individuals struggling with severe mental illness. Later, I returned to school to earn my Master's Degree, fulfilling my goal of becoming a therapist. I enjoy working collaboratively with individuals, witnessing their growth and healing, and having the privilege to be part of their journey. My goals for you I work alongside each individual to assess and support the goals they wish to accomplish while working with me.
