Getting to know Yihang Zou

I’m Nora (Yihang) Zou, a bilingual Mental Health Counselor offering therapy in both English and Mandarin. My goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your inner world, process difficult emotions, and feel more connected to yourself and others.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I want you to know that you won’t be doing it alone. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and free to share what’s really on your mind. We’ll take things at your pace and focus on what matters most to you — whether that’s easing stress, working through painful emotions, or feeling more confident in your relationships and identity. In our work, I may draw from different approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. For example, CBT and DBT can give you practical tools to manage overwhelming feelings, while IFS helps you connect with different parts of yourself with more compassion and clarity. Emotionally Focused Therapy can deepen how you relate to others and strengthen important relationships, and expressive tools like art or sandplay can offer ways to explore feelings when words aren’t enough. However we shape our sessions, my focus will always be on supporting your growth, resilience, and sense of connection.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first sessions, we’ll take time to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy. Together, we’ll identify your priorities and begin creating a plan that fits your needs. Some sessions may focus on practical skills to manage stress and emotions, while others may involve creative exploration or deeper reflection on past experiences. Over time, we’ll build both immediate tools and long-term insights, so you can feel more resilient, confident, and connected in your daily life.
