Getting to know Yisbet Miron

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate emotional, relational, and life challenges. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida International University and my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Carlos Albizu University. For over seven years, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in a variety of clinical settings. My experience includes supporting adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and emotional regulation challenges. Many adults seek therapy when they feel overwhelmed by work, family responsibilities, relationship concerns, or personal stressors, and my goal is to provide a supportive space where they can process these experiences and develop healthier coping strategies. In addition to working with adults, I also have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and families facing behavioral challenges, emotional difficulties, family conflict, and communication issues. I am passionate about helping clients build healthier relationships, increase emotional awareness, and develop practical tools to improve their well-being. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow. As a bilingual therapist, I provide services in both English and Spanish so clients can express themselves comfortably in the language that feels most natural to them.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I believe therapy should provide a safe and supportive space where individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. I work closely with clients to explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while helping them develop practical coping skills and healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges. I use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), family systems therapy, and play-based interventions when working with children and adolescents. My work is also trauma-informed, meaning I recognize how past experiences and stress can impact emotional health, relationships, and daily functioning. Together, we focus on building emotional regulation, strengthening communication skills, and increasing resilience. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, emotional dysregulation, family conflict, parenting stress, and relationship difficulties. I also support individuals navigating life transitions, self-esteem concerns, and stress related to school, work, or family dynamics. As a bilingual therapist, I provide therapy in both English and Spanish and strive to create a culturally responsive environment where clients from diverse backgrounds feel comfortable and respected. My goal is to help clients gain insight, develop healthier coping strategies, and create lasting positive changes that support their overall emotional well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the first session, my goal is to create a welcoming, safe, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences. We will begin by discussing what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and any goals you may have for treatment. I will also ask questions about your personal history, relationships, and daily stressors to better understand the factors affecting your emotional well-being. The first session is also an opportunity for us to begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. I believe that trust and collaboration are essential for meaningful progress. Together, we will identify initial goals for therapy, such as improving emotional regulation, reducing symptoms of anxiety or depression, strengthening communication, or addressing specific challenges within relationships or family dynamics. Clients can expect a supportive and compassionate environment where they feel heard and respected. By the end of the session, we will have a clearer understanding of your needs and begin outlining a treatment plan tailored to help you develop practical coping skills, increase self-awareness, and work toward lasting positive change.
