What should a new client know about working with you?
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), bilingual in English and Spanish, with extensive experience providing trauma-focused individual therapy. I earned my Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in Miami, Florida, and have been practicing as a mental health professional since 2017. Prior to working in the United States, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree and practiced as a Psychotherapist in Cuba for eight years.
My professional background includes over seven years working within the foster care system, as well as experience providing services in shelters for children, adolescents, and adults facing complex life stressors. I also bring experience as a case manager, which allows me to understand the practical and emotional challenges individuals often face during periods of crisis and transition.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and integrative, focusing on helping clients process difficult experiences at a pace that feels safe and empowering. I work collaboratively with clients to build emotional regulation skills, increase self-awareness, reduce anxiety and trauma responses, and foster resilience, self-compassion, and personal growth.

I have been working with my therapist since February, and I can honestly say she has been an incredible support throughout my healing process.

Yoany is very intentional with her questions and practices. I also get homework to work on. During my time with her I have learned to understand my relationship with my parents and how to move on towards healing and radically accept the past.
I can honestly say that I now am living my life more in the present and not stuck reliving the past.
