Getting to know Dr. Yolanda Ducey

Welcome to a space where your unique story is celebrated, and your journey to self-discovery is honored. I'm Dr. Yolanda Ducey, a licensed clinical mental health counselor and licensed psychological associate dedicated to helping individuals like you dance to the rhythm of their own aspirations and embrace the freedom of their authentic selves. I believe in the power of individuality and the courage it takes to forge your own path. Inspired by Monika Ajay Kaul, I encourage my clients not to fear failure but to see it as a stepping stone toward growth and evolution. With over a decade of experience, I’ve worked with clients from all walks of life, guiding them through challenges and empowering them to embrace their uniqueness. I hold a PhD and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Louisville, a Master’s in Behavior Analysis from the University of Cincinnati, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Colorado Technical University. These diverse educational experiences enrich my approach and deepen my understanding of human behavior and personal growth. In my practice, I offer therapeutic services tailored to your needs. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or navigating life transitions, I provide compassionate support and evidence-based interventions. My specialties include trauma recovery, self-esteem enhancement, and personal growth. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey, where trust and authenticity form the foundation. Drawing from cognitive-behavioral and humanistic approaches, I create a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and aspirations. Together, we’ll uncover your strengths, challenge limiting beliefs, and cultivate resilience. Ready to embark on your journey of self-discovery and growth? Let’s work together to rewrite your story with courage, authenticity, and resilience.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Meaningful growth happens we feel safe enough to be our authentic selves. You do not need to be fixed, for you are not broken. During our initial sessions, we will work together to create an accepting and compassionate environment, explore how you think about things and interact with your world, what is working for you and what is not, and create a plan to help you live your most authentic life. I am licensed psychological associate and licensed clinical mental health counselor. I provide therapy services, testing services, and group services for children, adolescents, and families. I specialize in autism and ADHD, and I am a neurodiversity affirming therapist. I have worked with children, teenagers, college students, and adults dealing with a range of social issues, emotional issues, behavior problems, developmental disorders, and other mental health concerns. I have experience providing services for children and adults with autism, traumatic brain injuries, intellectual and developmental disabilities, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and hoarding. I also have experience with relationship/couples counseling, including non-traditional couples.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I view therapy as a collaborative process between the therapist and the client that is built on mutual trust and respect. I enjoy collaborating with my clients and learning more about their experiences, how the experiences have shaped their worldview and beliefs, and helping clients along their journey of growth and healing.

More information on payments and coverage

In Network Services: At this time, I accept the following types of insurance: United Health Care, Oscar Health, Cigna, Oxford, and Aetna. I attempt to set fair fees for services; however, fees can also be dictated by insurance companies. Insurance reimbursement rates may change at the beginning of the year or fluctuate throughout the year. I may have to adjust the rates accordingly throughout the year. Most insurance companies require a diagnosis in order to reimburse for counseling services. You are responsible for contacting your insurance provider in order to confirm your mental health and/or substance abuse counseling benefits; they will advise you of your benefit coverage including copayments or coinsurance. Please be aware that you (not your insurance company) are ultimately responsible for full payment of fees. It is very important that you find out exactly what mental health services your insurance policy covers. Generally, since couples counseling is not covered by insurance companies, I only accept private pay for couples counseling. Out of Network Services: Please note that I am an “out-of-network” provider for some insurance carriers. If you choose to file insurance, I will help you prepare paperwork needed to submit to your insurance company. Your insurance company should then mail you a check for the portion of the charges they reimburse. “Out-of-network” providers and “In network” providers are sometimes reimbursed at different rates. Also, some managed care plans require authorization before you begin treatment, and may not pay for sessions held before you call for authorization. Please inquire about your health insurance coverage before your first visit by calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking the following questions about your “out-of-network” mental health benefits. Please be aware that you (not your insurance company) are ultimately responsible for full payment of fees.
