Getting to know Yonette Eversley

*This provider does not accept any Medicaid or Medicare plans* Life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face them alone. Whether navigating anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or health issues, I’m here to support you. As a Black woman and former foster parent turned adoptive mom, I understand the complexities of parenting, fostering, and adoption. I support parents through these paths, navigating the joys and challenges they bring. I’m passionate about helping women of color through life transitions like career changes, family shifts, and menopause. I also work with elderly clients and others facing big changes, offering a safe space to process and grow. I hold an MEd in Counseling Education from Alfred University, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to guide my clients effectively. My approach combines narrative therapy, where we focus on reshaping the stories you tell yourself about your life, with solution-focused therapy, which helps us identify your strengths and develop practical strategies to achieve your goals. I also incorporate mindfulness, coping techniques, and other tailored approaches to support your unique journey. Outside of work, I enjoy time with my kids, family, peaceful walks, and good books. Life gets busy, and I understand the struggle of balancing demands while prioritizing yourself. Starting therapy is a brave step, and I’d be honored to support you on your path to a healthier, more fulfilling life. As endorsed by Sneha Raja on Psychology Today: "I highly recommend Yonette. Her expertise in fostering & adoption offer her a unique insight into complicated family dynamics. Her compassion and commitment to accessible therapy provides an empowering and supportive space to navigate major life changes." Yonette Eversley has a Master’s in Counseling from Alfred University. Yonette is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Cerebral (# 016547) (NY).

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The perfect client for me is open to reshaping their personal narrative and ready to embark on the chapter where they establish their identity. They are willing to delve deep into their past experiences, uncovering the moments that have shaped them, while also bravely exploring the possibilities of their future. Yonette is incredibly kind and easy to talk to. She creates a safe space and helps you look at things from a new perspective. I always leave sessions feeling lighter and more grounded.
What stands out most about Yonette is her ability to see the bigger picture. She remembers details, connects themes, and helps me reflect in ways I didn’t expect. I leave sessions feeling clearer and more steady.
She creates a safe space while still holding me accountable. I’ve made noticeable progress in my anxiety and communication since starting sessions. I feel more confident navigating difficult conversations.

From our phone consultation, talking to Yonette has felt like a conversation not rigid. In the past I have always felt like other therapists were judging me, but with her its like I am talking to someone that works very hard to make me feel heard, seen, and understand. I ha a connection with her right away. If you are looking for someone that loves what they do, I highly recommend connecting with Yonette.
Yonette has been one of the most grounded and consistent providers I’ve worked with. She listens deeply and helps me connect my thoughts to real life patterns without judgment. I feel challenged but also supported every session.
I appreciate how direct and warm she is. She doesn’t let me stay stuck in avoidance but she also meets me with compassion. Therapy with her feels structured and purposeful.
My experience was pleasant and helpful. I will continue to be a patient. Her calm, yet attentive to every detail, approach which she follows up with great advice and insights is second to none! Thank you.
I had a very positive therapy session. The therapist was attentive and created a safe, welcoming environment. The conversation was thoughtful and meaningful, and I felt supported the entire time. I left the session feeling more confident and motivated moving forward.
Yonette is an understanding and supportive therapist. She offers support via action planning and gentle/loving accountability. Our sessions are 100 percent judgement free and in working with her I have learned to relinquish guilt for self-care and asserting my independence. She allows her clients to lead the session and is an accountable partner when we fall short. She is big on meeting her clients where they are.
Yonette was an excellent provider for my couples counseling and I would highly recommend her services. She is kind, supportive, an active listener, funny, straightforward, and organized. She will listen attentively and support both parties showing them respect, and offer her perspectives on things occurring within your relationship. I appreciate her so much for her help recently!
