Getting to know Yslande Vilsaint

Sometimes life puts us in tough situations that can often feel overwhelming. Facing these challenges alone can have a negative impact on a person. For some, it can feel burdensome sharing our feelings with friends and family. I approach my work with acceptance and compassion, creating a safe place where you feel comfortable sharing your story. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Connecticut with 10 years of experience working as a clinician with clients from all walks of life. I have experience working with diverse populations and people of different age groups. I am culturally sensitive and seek knowledge about my clients' cultures. I have worked with clients who face various challenges concerning depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationship and family issues, and self-esteem concerns. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor's degree from Southern Connecticut State University. My goal is to assist you in developing better cognitive and emotional skills to cope with the challenges you face in order to improve your life. My approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy with a person-centered approach. I look forward to taking this next step with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I like to start off by getting to know my clients and what brings them to therapy. I ask a great deal of questions about their history to better understand them as a whole. Together we create treatment goals where I check in periodically during subsequent sessions. I provide psycho-education on mental illness, educate on and I assign homework. You can expect further understanding of the presenting problem, gaining insight into mental illness and acquire the tools to manage the symptoms.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
