Getting to know Yujeong Kong

Therapy should feel like a place where you can show up as yourself, not a place where you have to have the right words, know exactly what to say, or have everything figured out. I work with adults and young adults, including college students and creatives, who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, burned out, or unsure of what comes next. I also work with clients navigating ADHD, self-esteem, life transitions, relationship and social challenges, and the everyday stress that can come with school, work, and adulthood. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and supportive while still being thoughtful and goal-focused. I want you to feel comfortable being honest about what is going on, while also knowing that we are making progress toward something meaningful to you. As a former art teacher, I have always appreciated that people express themselves in different ways. When it feels helpful, I may incorporate creativity, writing, drawing, storytelling, or other expressive approaches into therapy. You don't need to be an artist or have any experience with art—it's simply another way to explore what you're experiencing. Most importantly, I want you to feel heard, respected, and understood. Therapy is something we do together, and my goal is to help you feel more confident, capable, and connected to yourself along the way. The provider is supervised by GERALDINE GOMEZ.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don't need to know exactly what you need from therapy before you start. We can figure that out together. When you meet with me, my goal is for you to feel comfortable being yourself and talking openly without worrying about being judged. I will listen carefully, ask questions, and help you make sense of what you're experiencing. At the same time, I want therapy to be useful, not just a place to talk, but a place where you can develop a better understanding of yourself and learn strategies that actually fit your life. I especially enjoy working with adults, young adults, college students, and creatives. Clients often come to therapy because they are struggling with anxiety, ADHD, stress, burnout, self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, relationships, school or work, or a major transition in life. Every person is different, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We will work together to find what feels helpful for you, at a pace that feels comfortable while still helping you move forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first sessions are about getting to know you, understanding what has been going on, and figuring out what you would like to be different. You don't need to prepare a perfect explanation or know where to begin. I can help you get there. As we work together, sessions are conversational and collaborative. We might talk through something that happened during the week, explore patterns that keep showing up, work on coping strategies, or look at ways to approach a situation differently. I bring both warmth and clinical knowledge to the work. I want you to feel like you're talking with a real person who gets it, while also knowing that there is intention and expertise behind the work we are doing together. My background in art education also allows me to bring creativity into therapy when it makes sense for the client. Sometimes putting something on paper, writing, or approaching an experience creatively can help us understand it in a way that simply talking about it doesn't.

She is one of the most compassionate and thoughtful people I know. I’ve seen how intentional she is in the way she listens, asks good questions, and helps people feel safe without feeling rushed or judged.
Mrs. Kong is a wonderful therapist. She always took the time to work with my children during each visit. Her enthusiasm, compassion, and professionalism are truly reflected in her work. We thoroughly enjoyed attending her sessions. My children never wanted to leave their sessions and look forward to upcoming ones. Thanks to her dedication, my daughter has learned tools to cope with ADHD.
