Yuli is a Mental Health Counselor with a limited permit working under the supervision of Dr. Johnna Pointek. She holds a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from LIU Post. Her purpose is to create a safe and warm environment for her clients to grow and unlock new levels of themselves throughout their journeys. Yuli prioritizes building a strong therapeutic relationship with clients in order to better assist them in reaching their goals. She intends to meet her clients where they are and, through a collaborative effort, help them address any challenges they are facing. Her sense of empathy and advocacy stems from previous experience working with children and adults with severe mental illness. Yuli has experience working with diverse backgrounds and populations; therefore, each treatment approach is designed to cater to each client based on their needs and concerns.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in working with individuals who are experiencing major life changes, depression, anxiety and PTSD as well as a variety of psychotic disorders. I integrate therapeutic approaches from CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Therapy into her work to assist clients on their path to healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Yuli emphasizes working directly with the client to build rapport and a therapeutic relationship as well as a safe and welcoming environment in which the client feels comfortable in. I utilize a person-centered approach in which I will provide the client with support and guidance to identify their goals and take the necessary steps to achieve them at their own pace. Utilizing an eclectic approach, I will design my sessions to cater to the need of each client individually. Throughout her work with the client, she provides encouragement for the client to share their individual thoughts on what approaches have worked/not worked in their path to healing. Overall, I intend to meet my client where they are at in their healing process.
