Getting to know Yvonne Smith

I utilize a collaborative approach to therapy. I may have knowledge and experience in therapeutic skills, but the client is the expert on their life and the issues they brings to therapy. It takes both of us to share our understanding to develop goals and create the change the client desires. I use strategies from a variety of different therapeutic theories, but I like to practice solution-focused strategies when possible. Sometimes we don't need to know a lot about the history of the problem to solve it. My specialties include grief, anxiety, stress, life transitions, and aging. I have worked as a therapist as well as a hospice social worker. My various experiences inform how I approach working with my clients.
