Getting to know Zachary Terry

If you're here, you might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted from carrying everything on your own. Whether you're dealing with the intense symptoms of PTSD or experiencing the subtle weight of anxiety or depression, you don't have to face it alone. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Stillwater, Oklahoma, specializing in trauma-informed therapy. My approach to therapy is collaborative. I'm not here to "fix" you; rather, I'm here to walk alongside you as we explore what's hindering you from living the life you desire. I work with adults and teens facing a range of challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is grounded in the belief that healing happens in relationship—with ourselves, with others, and within the therapeutic space. I integrate evidence-based practices, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to support meaningful and lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I'm not here to "fix" you—I'm here to walk alongside you. My approach is collaborative and supportive, grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection, insight, and practical strategies. I often work from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) perspective, helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. That said, every person is unique, and I tailor each session to meet your individual needs and goals. A typical session might include checking in on how you've been feeling since we last met, exploring any patterns or challenges that have come up, and working together to identify tools or strategies that can support you. Sometimes sessions are more reflective and exploratory; other times they're more focused and solution-oriented. It really depends on where you are and what you need that day. As Forrest Gump once said, "Life is like a box of chocolates—you never know what you're gonna get." The same is true in therapy: every session can hold something new, whether it's a breakthrough, a shift in perspective, or simply the comfort of being heard.
