Dr. Zayna Achmar, PsyD

Psychotherapist
TX
I am the founder of Lotus Women's Center for Mental Wellness. I specialize in women’s mental health, supporting women across all stages of life and from all walks of life. While I have particular expertise in the perinatal and postpartum periods, including fertility challenges, pregnancy, new motherhood, perinatal loss, and postpartum depression or anxiety, I also work with women navigating identity shifts, relationships, career transitions, trauma, grief, and emotional overwhelm. My therapeutic approach combines psychodynamic therapy, which explores how past experiences shape current patterns, with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients build resilience, self-awareness, and live a valued based lifestyle. I currently offer virtual sessions with in person availability in August! My mission is to provide an authentic space where you can freely express yourself as we explore your roots and reconnect with the best version of you. It would be an honor to get to know you, to share in both the laughter and the tears, and most of all, to witness you bloom like the lotus you are.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The Convenience of Online Therapy Online therapy eliminates the need for travel and allows you to attend sessions from the comfort of your home, office, or any location that suits you. This flexibility is especially valuable for those with busy schedules, mobility challenges, or a preference for remote therapy. Secure and Confidential Rest assured that your online therapy sessions are conducted through secure and encrypted video conferencing platforms, ensuring your privacy and confidentiality. You can openly express yourself, just as you would in an in-person session. Tailored to Your Needs Online therapy sessions are no different in that they are individually tailored to your unique needs and goals. Some people worry about forming a genuine connection online, but with a cup of coffee in hand, it often feels more natural than expected. Many clients share that they felt just as connected in our virtual sessions as they would in person.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session will be a 60-minute psychological diagnostic evaluation. During our initial sessions, I’ll take the time to really get to know you, your needs, your goals for treatment, and what’s bringing you to therapy. Together, we’ll begin to develop a shared understanding of what’s been weighing on you and how we can work toward healing and growth through a personalized treatment plan. Ongoing psychotherapy sessions are 53 minutes. Our work may focus on relieving immediate challenges such as anxiety, sleep difficulties, or anger. At the same time, we’ll gently explore deeper, underlying patterns and past experiences that may be shaping your current struggles. While this deeper work can sometimes feel vulnerable, it often leads to meaningful insight and lasting relief.
