What should a new client know about working with you?

If you’re feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck in painful patterns—whether in your relationship or within yourself—you’re not alone. I work with individuals and couples facing some of life’s hardest moments: infidelity, compulsive behaviors, constant conflict, or the quiet distance that’s grown between you and someone you love. In our work together, you can expect a direct, compassionate approach. I create a space where you can speak honestly, feel heard without judgment, and start to make sense of what’s really happening. With over 25 years of experience and advanced training in Imago and Gottman therapy, CBT and others, I help clients rebuild trust, improve communication, and reconnect—with each other and with themselves.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to the unique needs of each client or couple. During our first few sessions, I focus on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, identifying your goals, and developing a clear roadmap for how we will work together. For individuals, we explore the patterns, thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be contributing to anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, or other challenges. Together, we work to build insight, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful change both inside and outside of sessions. For couples, I strive to create an environment where both partners feel heard, understood, and respected. Rather than determining who is right or wrong, my goal is to help couples identify the cycles that keep them stuck, improve communication, rebuild trust, strengthen emotional connection, and develop healthier ways of navigating conflict. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed interventions. Therapy often includes practical tools, communication exercises, skill-building, and strategies that clients can begin using immediately in their daily lives. My clients often tell me they appreciate that I am warm, engaging, and supportive while also being direct and solution-focused. I believe therapy should provide not only understanding and insight, but also concrete tools that help people create lasting change in their relationships and overall well-being.
