I am a bilingual therapist (English and Mandarin) who works with adults, young adults, and seniors. I specialize in helping people navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, chronic pain, and major life transitions. Many of my clients are navigating multiple cultural identities, new environments, or stressful life changes, and I provide a space where their unique experiences are respected and understood. I have a particular passion for supporting Asian/Asian American communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, immigrants, and international students. Therapy with me is both supportive and practical: I aim to help clients feel heard and validated while also developing tools to cope with stress and make meaningful changes in their lives.

Getting to know Zhirong Chen

I am a bilingual therapist (English and Mandarin) who works with adults, young adults, and seniors. Many of my clients are navigating multiple cultural identities, new environments, or stressful life changes, and I provide a space where their unique experiences are respected and understood. What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is collaborative and structured. I believe people do best when they feel supported while also having clear tools and direction. In our work together, I focus on helping you understand your patterns, strengthen coping skills, and create new ways of relating to yourself and others. I am trained in Lifespan Integration (LI), a gentle mind-body trauma treatment that supports emotional regulation, attachment repair, and building a stronger sense of self. I also integrate methods from CBT and DBT to give you concrete strategies for reducing distress, managing emotions, and improving communication. No matter what approach we use, I aim to provide a space that feels safe, consistent, and effective.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first meetings, we will discuss your history, current challenges, and what you hope to get from therapy. From there, I work with you to create a treatment plan that reflects your priorities and adapts as your needs change. Some clients come to therapy wanting to process past trauma, while others are more focused on improving day-to-day functioning, reducing anxiety, or navigating life transitions. We can work on both immediate coping skills and deeper patterns that may be contributing to distress. A typical session may include a mix of talk therapy, skill-building, and guided trauma processing (such as Lifespan Integration). Over time, clients often find that they feel calmer, more resourceful, and more confident in their ability to handle challenges. My goal is to help you strengthen your sense of self, improve your relationships, and feel more grounded in your everyday life.
