Getting to know Janae Gardner

Denver Psychology Associates has a strict NO AI policy, in which providers are not permitted to use AI to record sessions, take notes, or assist in reformatting notes. Your privacy is our top priority. I specialize in working with adults and young adults navigating ADHD, trauma, anxiety, and experiences that can leave you feeling stuck—even when you understand where your patterns come from. My work goes beyond traditional talk therapy by incorporating Brainspotting, a brain-body approach that can help access and process experiences that may be difficult to resolve through conversation alone.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have a particular interest in working with people with ADHD who feel overwhelmed, emotionally dysregulated, chronically behind, or frustrated by the gap between what they know they are capable of and what they are able to consistently accomplish. ADHD often affects much more than attention—it can shape self-esteem, relationships, emotional regulation, motivation, and the way you understand yourself. When ADHD overlaps with trauma, anxiety, or difficult past experiences, therapy may need to address both.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Brainspotting is an important part of my trauma work. Rather than requiring you to repeatedly explain or retell painful experiences, Brainspotting uses the connection between where you look and what you experience internally to support deeper emotional processing. I integrate this approach with relational therapy and practical strategies based on each client’s needs, comfort, and goals. My style is warm, grounded, and collaborative, but therapy with me is also intentional. We will work together to understand the patterns keeping you stuck, process experiences that continue to affect you, and develop tools that translate into your everyday life. My goal isn’t simply to help you understand yourself better—it’s to help you experience meaningful change in how you feel, function, and relate to yourself and others.

Janae is supportive and never judgmental, making it safe to open up about my past traumas. Brainspotting has provided deeper healing I haven’t gotten with years of talk therapy, highly effective & recommend!
Janae did a wonderful job of balancing a gentle approach & delivering tough love. I have been struggling for years to find a good fit and am so thankful I finally found the perfect therapist for me :)
Janae is down to earth, genuine, and grounding. I’ve worked with her for 3 years! She’s easy to talk to (love her humor) and always listens. She does healing Brainspotting and provides helpful handouts/resources for at home!
Janae helped get my motivation back and was there when I had little support. She even went out of her way and gave me referrals to a great psychiatrist and PCP for extra support. Always helpful and non-judgmental.
Working with Janae has been life-changing. I’ve learned ADHD coping skills, which have significantly helped me as a student, professional, and personal life. Thank you for the continued support!
Janae provided invaluable support and insight, helping me build effective coping skills to better manage anxiety over the last few years. Her compassionate approach has made a significant impact in my therapy journey, mental heath, and overall well-being. I truly felt seen, heard, and supported.
Janae is an amazing therapist. Her deep understanding and perspective into mental health, well-being and mindfulness make our sessions incredibly beneficial. Brainspotting has been a deeply healing experience and allowed me to access, process and release emotions. Highly recommend!
I decided after going through some extremely difficult times in my life, to "realize" I need help. Someone who I can talk to, who will not judge me, but, listen. Really listen. I felt completely comfortable as well as "safe," in sharing my dealing with death, suicide, family issues, as well as physical abuse. Ms. Gardner gave me healthy coping mechanisms, as well as gaining my trust in her. I felt like she TRULY cared about ME:) So hard to find!! A TRUE professional, as well as someone I can truly talk to and has compassion and truly cares. I HIGHLY recommend her!!!:)
